Its not as linear as there are multiple side quests to do (before you gain the air ship), there is a world map, and a superior story-line that let you return to areas to continue branch off story lines, non of that in 13. Either you never played the game right or you are just talking out your ass *******.

Highly doubt it is a true remake, more likely they are just going to smooth stuff out and up res the graphics. Will just be a cleaner version of the game. I think everyone would rather have 7 remade, or even one of the older games in the series like 5 or 6.

Truth. The merge with Enix was the beginning of the end. The only game I've really enjoyed since the merger was Radiata Stories. Square Enix would have gone broke if not for buying Eidos after they just threw silly money on that embarrassment of a game FF14, and I am glad. The company has so many good franchises they could decide to work on, but everything they spend is into developing terrible Final Fantasy games, and Kingdom Hearts side projects for the fukking phone and sh*t.

Too much work? They're making a sequel to a game that got very mixed reviews. They have remade many of the earlier FFs (some more than once) and published them on various systems. Now they choose to remake FF-10. Probably after that FF10-2 (following their stream of poor logic, it makes sense).
They aren't listening to their fans. As long as people buy what they sell, what does it really matter to them anyway right? I don't really care anymore. Though, I'm happy they invested enough into FF7 with Crisis Core and Advent Children. I will moreso look forward to elder scrolls releases and (possibly) FF:13 Versustake care misc, it's been fun

Its fun to read posts by people who think final fantasy started with 7, like the guy who was balls deep on the materia system in 7 failing to realize there was a giant piece of magicite gaping his ******* as he typed it.
4 and 6 stand far above all others, and then probably 9, 7, 8, 10, 5, 1-3, 13, 12 (twelve was just fukcing stupid, so was 13 but I actually kind of dug 13s battle system... shame about the rest of the game though).
4 and 6 though will probably never be beaten. RPGs have been going downhill ever since the newer consoles. It is all about flash and no substance. I mean fukc the storylines in 4 and 6. 6 especially, the world's slowly ebbing away... (jump).

13 was dumb. The storyline was somewhat interesting. The game was completely too linear. The whole mechanism for upgrading your weapons was completely retarded. The battle system was really the only thing in the game that kept me playing, but it also had its faults. You are talking about side quests as if they are some crowning achievement. Look at Final Fantasy 6, the World of Ruin (well over 2/3s of the game, if not closer to 4/5ths) was completely open ended.

Definitely agree. They have murdered every game they have made since, FF13 was the perfect example. Instead of making a decent game they made a quick multi platform turn around to maximise profit and in doing so alienated long time fans of the series.
This remake of X is the only thing that will keep them afloat in the long run because people won't buy 13-2 on name alone like they did with 13. Personally i won't be buying it regardless.
I loved ToV and Eternal Sonata, Even Enchanted Arms.

I srsly think Final Fantasy 13 Versus will be Square's attempt another big-hit/successful Final Fantasy (that people overall like).
Not sure how FF13-2 is looking to be honest. On one hand, the combat system is said to be even better this time around, fixing some annoyances such as waiting in combat for the stupid paradigm shift to finish (the cutscene). Some negative comments have been made about the plot though, people are saying it's probably worse than 13 or at least more confusing. Heard the towns are just... people that you can't really do much with (can't go inside houses), and the side quests are boring drabble (get and item and return it to the quest giver).
Another thing I read that I'm not sure how Square can pull off well is that you only have 2 traditional characters, Noel and Serah, and that the 3rd one is a changeable? monster or something. Sounds a bit stale to be honest, even if you can customize the characters to fight in different ways. Part of what made the other successful Final Fantasy's so good was the fact you could change your party around for enjoyable personalities.
The biggest reasons why FF7 and FF10 were so good that Square seems to have forgotten is the story and how influential the characters can be to it. Things like Aerith's death, Tidus disappearing at the end, all brought a deep emotional feeling into the games that made the player want to do more/understand more (or at least in my case). The villains were also much better than 13, Sephiroth and basically Sin (until it's discovered Yu Yevin or whatever his name is behind it). 13 failed to do that--- I hated Hope (though I felt bad about him losing his mother), and Lighting came across as a quiet bitch. I actually liked Snow, and Vanille wasn't bad either. Those two were probably the only two playable characters I enjoyed (and the black dude but I forgot his name =/).

A little too linear/10 but still a very good game. I'd ball on all of you in blizball. Can't wait for the remake when they will have online blitzball. I love the monster arena as well, gives some very good endgame challenge to the game.
Idk brah, I feel like I have oneitis for Rinoa after that ball room dance.

I have played FF 7 through current, including the 2 sequels.
My favorite? FF 12. Amazing open world, almost MMO-like. The battle system was awesome, and the amount of options was just HUGE. The story was not dumb-as-**** like FF 13 either. FF13 and FF13-2 may very well be the worst ever. Square-Enix is total, utter failure where Squaresoft was once the undisputed king.
Favorite character? Ramza Beoulve if we are including FFT. Zidane Tribal if we are talking the core series.
Favorite story? Lettuce be reality, FF 7 had the best story of the core "modern" Final Fantasies. Though FFT was better, IMO.
Best moment in a FF game? Aeris death is a cliche answer. I think it would have to be in FF 9, when escaping from the forest as it is being petrified. Blank sacrifices himself and is turned to stone while throwing Zidane a map of some sort. Blank is left there, a statue, while you must continue onwards. Either that or when Vivi discovers the black mage factory.
