The cheapest I could find online was $300; if I can't find any cheaper I'll probably spring for that because it's still less than a year's membership at the gym and all I use is a single barbell. I've tried Amazon and Ebay for new ones, and there are surprisingly few used on Craigslist, and even they're asking for a considerable amount of money.
Anyone have any ideas?

craigslist.
This time of year, all the resolutioners who ran out and bought new stuff in January and have long since quit using it are looking to get rid of it. Many bargains on nearly-new equipment are to be had with some patient searching. No brain, no gain.

I've been searching Craigslist nearly every day for over two weeks...there aren't as many as you might think. Besides, buying a used one is an extra pain in the ass because it's probably already assembled, has no instructions for disassembly/assembly or packing etc. I'd still buy one used, I'm just saying it would have to be a lot cheaper, which they don't seem to be.

If you have a android phone, there is a craigslist app that is fairly useful. I'm sure iPhone prolly has their version too.You can set a pretty wide search area. , I would have search titles like squat cage, power cage, squat rack, power rack. I would set seperate searches for those names. As many people call it different things. It takes about 20 minutes for the post to show up as a notification . I have found stuff from this app that I would have missed.... Hope this helps..good luck

I agree with searching on Craigslist.
I have been scouring it daily for a few weeks now and scored an (almost) complete "Standard" brand oly set for $75 (it is missing the two 25 lb. plates) and a Body Solid power rack with lat attachment for $200.
It becomes bit of a hassle as people seem flaky on there, I have literally sent 30+ e-mails and left countless messages, only to have very few people actually get back to me. It's odd, you would think they would respond to someone interested in making purchases. Anyway, the ones who do respond are the ones serious about selling their gear, so that's how you can find the deals.
Failing that, Body Solid has their "Powerline PPR200X" branded rack for $300-$400 almost anywhere you see them. They were $300 even, with shipping, a few days ago but they seem to have gone up to $350 now. Either way, that's not too bad of a deal for a new rack, and apparently they aren't bad for the price. I believe they are rated to 600 lbs.
Good luck in your search!()---() York Barbell Club #11 ()---()
