great exercise for neck are neck bridges, you go in a pushup position with your butt in the air, then you put your forehead on a mat then rotate temple to temple and nose to the top of your head, as you do it more often you decrease the amount you help with your hands, all we do for neck in wrestling

Your neck should be the same width as you jaw or slightly larger in terms of aesthetics. If your head is wider than your neck then you should probably start training it. I have a huge head and it still dwarfs my 18inch neck, feels batman.
Train with one of these 3 times a week, and your neck will grow pretty fast. srs

I kind of agree with OP to a certain extent, the thick neck looks awesome if developed correctly, i know there have been mike tyson pics posted here but this video of his training is pretty sweet and it shows how he trained his neck.
Don't have 50 posts yet so can't post the link to the video, but if you're interested, you can youtube "Mike Tyson Training" and it's the very first video, according to the little text boxes, he had a 20" neck, but I'd never try his exercise for neck from the video from risk of snapping my neck lmao but it definitely worked for him and looked insane"No citizen has a right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training...what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable." - Socrates

This is about right imo - Stuart McRobert mentions a little on body proportions for aesthetic reasons noting a couple of formulae created by others for the purpose.
Since I was 10 or so my neck always looked well shaped and I noticed how weak most peoples necks looked in photographs.
When I started doing manual neck exercises my neck went up to 19 1/2" thick and people commented.. friends I hadn't seen for a while, neighbors, my barber lol, .. people definitely gave me more respect but it had some annoying sides:
No shirts fit me neck, and if I kind of tilted my head back but brought my chin inwards I could have trouble breathing (not good)! I agree with some poster here who said that the neck being the same width as the head at most is the limit of aesthetic - these huge necks posted are ugly imo.
I am lazy as fuark with training so I just see it as more work so I quit doing neck - I don't know what size it is now - a lot smaller anyway. I would like it bigger again but not as big as before - I may probably just start doing shrugs again... or not.. I am lazy like I said and I hate training..
