Hey there,
for those who have a home gym,
i am feeling ALOT of friction on my machine and as I add on more weight it becomes to hard to push or do repetitions.
part of the plastic from one of the cables has torn so is this part of the cause on the friction as well?
i am changing to a new cable but was wondering would i still need to use silicone lube/spray on the machine.

Here's a page on cable machine maintenance that might help: http://www.home-gym-bodybuilding.com...nt-repair.html the silicone lube listed on that page works great. There are a few sites that sell replacement cables even the exact one for your machine. Google "home gym repair". There's even a thread here on this forum where someone made his own cable.

replacing plastic / nylon / fiberglass pulleys that are warped and or worn with aluminum or steel pulleys will
get rid of alot of friction problems... I replaced the pulleys on My lat machine with a set of aluminum pulleys from body solid.
friction problems on My machine are gone now, even with 400 + lbs on the machine the pulleys don't warp or bind like the plastic / nylon / fiberglass type pulleys did. the only area on the machine that gets oil are the guide rods for the weight stack.Last edited by chemmech; 01-18-2012 at 01:28 PM.
