I just got home from meeting with the artist, he is the same guy that did my brother's full sleeve and I really liked his work a lot. I took him some pictures that I found on the internet of what I really liked and of course he will be putting his own artistic twist on them so as to not copy another artists' work. He said he'd give me a call back in about two weeks because they're in the process of relocating their shop. I'm hoping to have at least the outline done by Spring Break (March 19th), and I'll be getting it on my left arm.
Here are two shots of my brother's tattoo after it was completely finished:
And here are the pictures I took him:
Meanings behind each:
The Crane - metaphorical representation of wisdom, fidelity, longevity, and fortune. when used in combination with the sun it represents social ambition.
Koi - good luck charm, when depicted swimming upstream against the current it is a symbolic representation of strength and courage because in life it takes a lot of guts to face the tide that fate has to unfold for you. It is also a symbol of independence.
Turtle - symbol of shelter, protection, and comfort. the shell of a turtle was also used for it's healing properties in Japan. It is also supposed to ward off bad luck and bring good fortune to the wearer.
I'm also gonna have some cherry blossoms sprinkled throughout and possibly a lotus flower as well.

Your brother's looks good as ****. Can't wait to see how yours turns out to be.
And I hate people who get tattoos just to look cool and have no reason as to why they get them, but you seem to have a reason for every piece there. So good luck, and it would be badass to whip out what the crane, koi, and turtle mean when someone is making fun of it.

Thanks man, I'll be posting pictures when I get the outline done which is hopefully within the next month. I was pretty bummed that the whole process is getting delayed because I caught them at a bad time. And yeah, I can already see people making fun of me for it, but IDGAF to be honest lol. Haters gonna hate, ignoramuses gonna ignoramus.
Nah, not a big fan of color tattoos. I don't think they look good. I'll be keeping this the same as my brother has his.iRepBack. 1K +

your brothers looks sick, but i personally think the one with the koi on the shoulder looks the best one and has the best meaning. crane also looks really good, but there's the risky of looking ****gy with the lotus blossoms and such. the rising sun also looks really cool

Nah, I actually really like the cherry blossoms and lotus flower. My brother has a lotus flower on this forearm, but you can't really see it from the pictures posted.
Yeah, he does do good work and since he did my brother's I figured I'd have him do mine too. I'll be posting pics as soon as I get the outline done. I can't wait, pretty damn excited.
I'm having it all done in one sleeve bro, it's all gonna be in there.
The outline will be $400-$600, to get the entire thing shaded will be anywhere from $1500-$2000. It's a long, expensive process. But I'm only focused on getting the outline for now.
We've been over this like six times already, *******. Plzgo.iRepBack. 1K +

Your brother's sleeve is sick man, from the looks of those pictures you found, your's is gonna be badass as well. I want to get a sleeve similar to the concept of your's with different things but following the same concept of Japanese-style art. I probably won't get mine for another few years though.

Japanese art is where it's at man, I love it.
Saw you posted, expected worse. Angus is peppered.
Thanks, I can't wait to get it done!
I'm trying to get the outline done by Spring Break so you'll be able to see it then lol.
