That's why you go for the New Balance, Vibram hybrid... the above shoe. The two companies colaborated to make this genius shoe for ppl like me, who are creeped out by the toe shoeTrauma survivor and women's advocate since 2007.

Nike Free have served me well

Ok so I'm not trying to bash anyone but I can't really understand why anyone who does any type of weightlifting would wear shoes designed for running that are built with a fair amount of cushioning.
I mean, if you mostly do stuff like sitting down on a bench doing some concentration curls or laying on your back doing skull crushers, leg curl machine, leg extension machine, etc, I guess it wouldn't matter too much (I have no idea since I haven't done stuff like that in years) but if you're doing some of the more integral lifts necessary for real strength where you're on your feet, I don't see how cushioned running shoes would be anything other than a detriment.Sept of Baelor was an inside job. These are the Nike Free shoe that I currently use (color is a little different). There's not as much cushioning as most running shoes. Lifting isn't a real problem with these, and I do light cardio after. For an all around shoe they are decent. But I'm defiantly going to be trying on the suggested shoes. Hopefully do some shopping later this week or weekend.

I wear my nike free most days, but when I was squatting (cant anymore due to back issues) I had a pair of flat footed nike high tops I wore, or i just took my shoes off. You are correct though, a solid shoe, or no shoe is required for heavy lifting but since OP didnt mention heaving lifting, I didnt see the need to go into such detail.
