Is cutting supposed to be this difficult?

Feeling exhausted all day every day, to the point that walking up and down stairs is actually much more difficult at 200lbs than it was at 300+. Sex drive and general daily motivation is nonexistent. Much more self-loathing/embarrassed by my body now at like 20% bodyfat than I was at over 40%. Is this normal or am I doing it wrong?

Most likely doing it wrong. How long have you been dieting for? Maybe it's time to take a couple weeks off.

Edit: Also, what does your diet look like?

In answer to your original question - Is cutting supposed to be this difficult? Physically no, mentally Yes.

Yes - because when we get to the point we have had a 6 pack, have endured daily head fcuks about what to eat, what not to eat, looked in the mirror and seen the body morph in front of our eyes and look more flabby, stood on the scales one day and smiled and stood on them the next day and wanted to throw them out the window...once we have gone through all that and come out the other side, the pain, the mental anguish, but have a kick ass body, we can say we did it and now look better than 99% of the population and grew from that.

One thing I have to ask is are you getting enough fats in your diet? Whats your calories total?
The body doesn't struggle to lose weight...the mind does - keep measurements, keep your sanity.

I'm an Englishman living in Canada...oh how I miss a decent curry!

Former skinny fat member @ 158lbs - now 205lbs and 15%. It's been a long journey but a rewarding one.

^^This was my biggest mistake in the past! Keeping healthy fats on the upward scale (.45g per lb.) and even exceeding it a bit helps me immensely on a cut.

    yes it certainly is

    heres what i do!

eat smaller meals 6-7 times a day whenever you feel hungry and that will give you the energy youre looking for

    good luck!

I run a keto diet and if my carbs aren't there, neither is the energy. Definitely need to know macros though, I think my carbs worked out to a whole whopping 3grams yesterday for instance. Talk about feeling drained, I wouldn't do that to yourself if you can avoid it!

I'm the opposite. When I tried eating like a bird I was always starving and ended up cheating on my diet far more often. Now when I eat over 50% of my daily calories in one big feast after my workout I stay stuffed and satisfied for hours and don't even think about food.

Haha sorry folks, too busy whining and ranting to post my cals/macros! Was eating a little low so I bumped my calories up to about 2000, protein always ~170, carbs and fats are up and down a little bit day to day but typically around 200 or a little under for carbs, 60 or so for fats. Every calculator and equation I've used puts my maintenance calories at 2800-3100, so my deficit doesn't even seem that drastic. Sorry everybody, just real confused and venting a little bit.
