I can't wait till Thanksgiving next week. Love seeing and spending time with family. And love all the food they bring over with them. I've been back on a full clean diet for 2 weeks now and am continuing it through the first of the year to try and bulk as much as I can.
But, when I was planning out my new diet I, of course, factored in the holidays and the holidays being my cheat days
I'm looking forward to fully loaded sweet potato with marshmallows and brown sugar! and a mountain of garlic mashed potatos covered in gravy! ... If you can't tell I'm a sucker for carbs LOL
Whats everyone else favorite Holiday cheat?

My favorites happen to be the two things I'm making this year: Sweet potato pie and homemade macaroni and cheese. From scratch. Because I'm awesome like that.

That surrender, even the smallest act of giving up, stays with me. So when I feel like quitting, I ask myself, which would I rather live with?" - Lance Armstrong

I don’t (WTF?)... I'm perfectly fine with the way I live. Was simply stating what was usually felt with a ‘cheat’ meal. The problem is obviously is that during the holidays there is simply not ‘A’ meal, but several. I... will refrain from typing anything else as it would not be nice.
I do appreciate your condescending advice. Please, stay safe.--Active--

ooooh I think we all know that Thanksgiving would be considered one of the big pig out feast events of the year for most of us...I have no idea the macros taken in on that day and frankly, I dont wanna know. Do I enjoy it? H*ll yes? do I feel guilty about it? H*ll no. I eat pumpkin pie once a year. now, do I consider this a major cheat day in my 365 days of trying to keep on track and eat right/exercise? OOOOOOH yes but I am ok with that fact.
Is it not a time of celebrating our abundance with the ones that we love?
Plan on doing the same thing on Christmas Day too.Last edited by latebloomingmom; 11-19-2011 at 07:30 AM.

woah there buddy is this directed at me? Did you read what I wrote? I am defending your stance, not arguing against it.
I used to always feel guilty after eating it and still have to fight this within myself. I am choosy and only eat a little of my favorites. I enjoy one meal and not three or four over two or three days.

Whoa! A bit sensitive? I was not putting you down nor was I intending to come off condescending. Even though I quoted you, I was generalizing and being sincere. You said you felt "bad" after a "cheat" meal. If you are fine with that, no problem, but I see a frequent mindset of guilt associated with food and not realizing that moderation is possible on these forums, particularly females, that I find a bit sad, limiting, and dysfunctional.
I did not mean to come off disrespectful.
Staying safe always .

i don't see any food as a cheat, but maybe pie. my mom's hosting, so it'll probably be a korean-american fusion of stuff...bulgogi, turkey, and mashed potatoes. sometimes she makes pie but i don't generally like to eat much of it because too much sugar gives me a headache. i figure i will just eat a lot of protein and kill some PRs at the gym afterward never had a binging problem at thanksgiving, all the food bores me lol.

I like saying "cheat meal" because it makes me push hard for a short term goal. Like reaching a new max. LOL
Food is such a HUGE deal within the health/fitness industry and it plays such a mental game with us all.
This thread was just ment to be fun. Mainly talk about moms cooking, or those special dishes you only make once or twice a year. Its the holiday season and yes, some "foods", "meals" and "cheats" are all part of creating the holiday feelFollow me on ********!
