Most bars on the market are similar; your best bet is to scour the ingredients list on any you're considering, and see what they use as the primary source of protein, and whether or not they contain any trans fat. Beware; many use inferior/incomplete protein sources, and are little more than candy bars. Not that there's anything wrong with an occasional candy bar; it's just not a good substitute for a small meal or a good source of high-quality protein.
Not sure exactly what you're looking for (low-carb, low fat, protein type, etc.), but here's one source for recipes:

I, because I'm on the go alot ( like most I'm sure) use at least one bar per day. I've been using Detour low sugar. My question is really what is the BEST bar nutritionally. I have limited time to make my own, not that I won't give it at try. I'm looking for a bar with 20-30 g of high quality protein, low sugar no trans fats that tastes pretty good. Does this beast exist?
"Oh" I get it, this isn't a sport about weight lifting it a sport about dieting...

I stopped buying protein bars a few years ago and started making my own. This way i knew what was really in it and i could add things if i wanted more calories or if i was having a chocolate craving i could add a few chocolate chips. But any way here is a video i found of how to make my favorite bars.

I like the pure protein bars as well . . . and Kroger had them on sale for 88 cents each this week so I bought a crapload of them.
Protein bars are tough for me because I have dietary restrictions due to kidney stones--supposed to stay away from chocolate, soy, nuts, etc. So I tend to go with the Pure Protein strawberry shortcake bars. Very tasty! Detour bars are awesome, but I can't eat them much anymore--although I recommend them highly. I still sneak one every now and then.
Tried making my own a few times but they just were a hassle and then they would go bad before I ate them all. So I like bars that are wrapped and they can sit around til I want to eat one. Keep a few in my drawer at work and in the gym bag.*MFC Elder Statesmen Cabinet Crew*

Carb Conscious Supreme Protein bars are pretty good for an on-the-run fix until you can get a real meal. 200 cals, 15 g prortein and o trans fat. Sugar alcohol is 14 g so that's a draw back but as I said if it's a quickie you need until you can get something real in your system it will keep you satisfied.

I like the Premier bars from Sams club too and they are pretty cheap at about $1 each. http://www.premiernutrition.com/prot...nutrition.html
I also really like the Clif Builder bars and although they do have higher sugar they are all natural which is a bonus IMO. http://www.clifbar.com/food/products_builders/

If I have a bar, these are the two low carb bars I turn to most.

one more thing, in general, the more dense in calories they are, the better they usually taste! naturally....
I look at it this way: at it's worst, it is still better, say, than downing a Snickers, or Milky Way......Lift as MUCH as you can, for as MANY reps as you can,
while in complete control of the exercise.
