There is nothing to suggest that Reem is going to chain submission attempts together. He isn't a grappling machine. He's competent but that's about it. Being in someones guard for a few moments is completely different then having a 270 lb wrestler smothering you. That's something we've never seen him face.

I feel compelled to disagree with much of what has been written in this thread. While I am not arrogant enough to believe anything is a certainty in the world of MMA I do know that Overeem has the most potent knees in MMA and anyone who shoots in on him could be in for a real surprise. I also know that Overeem is by far the best striker in all of MMA no matter what anyone says about Cain or Dos Santos. If you were to throw Cain or Dos Santos into a K1 match they would be slaughtered. There is only one elite level striker in the Heavyweight division that not only fights but is a champion in a striking only sport and that is Overeem. I will admit that i have not seen Overeem's ground game in quit a long time and if brock gets him down he could win but I don't believe that will happen. Will be an interesting fight but Overeem hits much harder and is a far better striker than anyone Brock has ever seen.

nope just chose to ignore it as its a pathetic argument. facts speak volumes brah. brock got the takedown then won. simple as carwin was only a "zombie" because he gassed himself out due to brock defending his attack in the first round. brock took advantage of the situation.
No regrets, only lessons learnt.

In ALL of MMA? Even better than Anderson Silva?
MMA and K1 striking are completely different. Overeems latest fight with Werdum was not impressive at all, he used those tiny 3oz gloves to cover up, which doesn't work very well in MMA. If you did that to Cain, JDS or Carwin, you could be in big trouble.

O look, Lord Lemon is back. Brock Lesnar finally let you out from under his nutsack lol? Come on dude, I'm no Frank Mir lover, but the dude was working off of his back in the first fight before Mazagatti stepped in. Even he didn't want it to be stopped at that point. Who won that fight too? O yea.....

I was leaning towards brock at first when i heard about this fight cause i thought his wrestling would be a big problem for overeem. but i just realized that brock has poor technique and only takes people down by out muscling them, but thats not gonna be the case with the reem. not to mention brock has barely started training since he got sick. hes not gonna have enough time to prepare for someone like the reem specially with his fear of getting hit.

I believe he is beter in a strictly striking sense than Silva. How many Muay Thai fights did Silva have and howlong has it been since he engaged in a striking only match? I am not criticisizing Silva as he is a tremendous striker and perhaps the best MMA striker on the planet but it cannot be disputed that Overeem holds more striking titles, I don't know if Silva has ever held one, and has had many more striking fights. I believe Overeem is the best striker in all of MMA as I stated earlier. Could I be wrong? Of course and that is why I made it clear that this is only my opinion.
Overeems last fight was not impressive but it was the 1st time I have seen him hesitant and I actuall believe the statements made by his camp that he was injured. His injury is what allowed the UFC to pull him from the Strikeforce Tournament. I know that fighters are often injured at fight time but I genuinely believe his injury greatly impacted his performance. Could i be wrong? Sure. If he fights a similar fight against Lesnar I will agree with you but at thistime I cannot agree as one fight does not define a career that has otherwise been aggressive to a fault.

agree with most, but it is a different blamegame when takedowns are thrown into the mix. Where were those knees against Werdum when Fabricio shot for takedowns? If anything that fight seemed to show that Overeem, despite being a fantastic K-1 fighter, had some difficulty striking when he was worried about fending off takedowns.

He knocked out Badr Hari in 2 minutes. Badr Hari is a better striker than anyone in MMA, including Overeem. Werdum didn't engage and laid on his back every time Overeem started connecting.
he's beat the no 2, no 3, no 4 and no 7 hw kickboxers in the world...but yeah, he can't strike.I want to touch the butt.

Reem has this. If anything Lesnar shoots with a knee on the ground, gets kneed in the face and ktfo but still wins due to DQ. Both guys gas equally but Reems experience and his ability to not shutdown when hit in the face win it.

Who exactly are you counting as 2-4? Badr, Aerts, and...Saki? I really like Alistair and think he's a great hw kickboxer, but lettuce be reality he has not beaten #s 2-4 in the world. He hasn't fought Semmy, who is probably still the #1. And he lost to Remy--who while retired, most guys would put in the top 3-4. That said, Alistair was definitely in the mix with those 3: semmy, badr, and remy, as the top tier HWs.
