I had a blog over in the fat loss forum. Went MIA. But now I'm back, more focused and my motivation is sky high... so I chose to restart it in this forum. Plus the female forum is a lot cooler and the journals here are a TON more interesting (I keep up with a lot of journals here but I stay silent. Now that I started a new one, I'll come out a say hi!)
My name is Sarina. I just turned 24 a couple days ago and I have the classic fat girl mentality. I eat when I'm bored. I reward myself with food. Whatever other bad traits that go along with those. I grew up with "clean plate club" pride so it's going to take me a while to work myself away from that.
So a lot of things have been going on and I've been all over the place. I've been working full-time on an average of 50 hours a week and grad school just started. Money's tight but I'll make due.
I've been really into nutrition and exercise for a couple years now but it's time for me to take all of what I've learned and get my BF% into the teens.
Current Stats:
BW: 142.8
BF%: 22.6
I'll be weighing in once and week and measuring my BF% once a month.
I just brought this new toy. Body Media. It helps me keep track of exactly how many calories I burn everyday so I can make sure I'm in a deficit. I'm in loveeeeeee. Here are the stats for today.
I don't have any stats on sleep because I wasn't wearing during that time :P
I'll post daily and I'll try to make them as interesting as I possibly can. No guarantees though!
Until tomorrow

Yesterday went pretty smoothly. Though I was disappointed that I didn't get to work out because of the endless amount of errands I had to run after work AND grad school homework. Working 12 hour shifts doesn't leave much room for post-work activities :-( But today's plan is to get in some light cardio and Friday night will be some weight lifting :-)
Did a quick weigh-in this morning to make sure I'm on track.
BW: 142.2
Good deal! Next weigh-in is September 8th.
Later, ladies

FINALLY got a workout in last night. I did a 3-round circuit and then a 15-minute incline jog/walk.
Circuit Exercises
Dumbbell swings 10 reps
Dumbbell lift and raises (a.k.a pick it up and put it on the shelf) 20 reps
The first 2 rounds I used a 15-lb dumbbell. The last round I used a 20-lb dumbbell.
It was a short workout but I can't mess around with lack of sleep with back-to-back 12-hour shifts. I should have stepped up the intensity one more notch though! Next time for sure.
I have trouble sleeping on days that I work and surprisingly I think working out at night is helping me sleep more efficiently. It must be my way of dealing with stress and other things that keep my mind racing at night. But thankfully today is my last 12-hour shift and then I get a couple days break. I'm sooo looking forward to sleeping in!
*Not sure why my iPhone display says I got 0 hours of sleep, haha. Syncing issues I guess!*Sarina* !!!

I ended up eating around maintenance today because my co-workers brought food in to celebrate my birthday. Sushi. Ice Cream Cake. Holy beegeezus, the madness. I indulged but I'm proud of myself for not over indulging. And tonight I'm going out of town to celebrate my birthday with a couple friends from my hometown but I'll make healthy food choices for sure. With that said, I won't be posting again until Monday. Party time! Excellent!

Alrighty! Saturday night. Birthday dinner was amazing. I always appreciate when my friends get-together to celebrate with me. Karaoke is so much fun. FYI :P
Sunday and Monday, oh man. Whenever I visit my parent's house, it's always FOOD, FOOD, FOOD everywhere you look! I'm not sure how much I downed but it was a lot! But whenever I fall off the horse, I get right back up on it.

I'm not sure! I think I'm just going to browse muscleandstrength.com. Looks promising.
I haven’t done squats in so long! I’m glad that the last stage introduced them back into my routine.
I’ve never used BodyBugg. But I’ve heard so much about BodyMedia that I HAD to get one. And I’ve been getting excellent results as long as I keep the deficit 200 calories or more.*Sarina* !!!

Oh man. I hate hurricanes!!! On Thursday night, I was pretty much stranded at work because of the heavy rain and all the flooding on the streets getting home. So. Damn. Lame. So my apologies for lacking on my daily updates.
Alrighty so what went on yesterday? Regular 12-hour work day. It was "Chicken Friday" (lols) and of course that's when everyone orders out seasame chicken. A co-worker asked me to participate so we can split a serving and I was like "eff yeah!" It was actually pretty good And I'm also proud of myself for eating out wisely and not indulging too much. I'm slowly adapting my lifestyle to be leaner while being social and that's all I want to accomplish.
I did 30 minutes of LISS on the treadmill yesterday... Actually I don't think I can call it LISS because I was gunning it at 15% incline for a good portion of the workout. I get bored easily so I feel like I absolutely HAVE to get my heart rate pumping.
Yesterday ended up being a maintenance day unintentionally.
But today I'm back on my deficit. No take out. Spaced out meals. 30 minute workout at the gym after work. And at least 7 hours of sleep.
Until tomorrow!Last edited by sarina1113; 09-11-2011 at 02:56 AM.

I can totally relate. I hate LISS with a passion! But...it seems to be working. I am consistently losing -3 lbs a week since I started doing 50 min of LISS 3x a week But I feel ya! when I am on the spinning bike I find that I start pedaling faster or have the urge to stand and crank up the tension for even just a few minutes.

Next weigh-in is Saturday and I WILL stay on point.
Glad to see that I'm on the road to success again. I should be in the 130s by the end of this month as long as I stay consistent and motivated. And there's no doubt in mind about that
Last night I tried to max out on One-Armed Dumbbell Snatches but I still think I could have went higher!
25x5
30x5
35x5
After that, I did about 20 minutes of cardio. I really like this kind of short and sweet workout on my 12+ hour workdays. I get to fit in a quick strength training exercise and then some cardio and I'm out in 30 minutes.
Later
Remember the victims of September 11th. Rest in peace.*Sarina* !!!

Sorry for the lack of updates! Grad school needs to end. Why did I sign up for this?!?!
BW: 140.4
I managed to still lose even though I had some eff-ups :-/ Buffets are the devil. Especially sushi buffets. O.M.G
New initiatives this week! I'm serving myself slightly smaller portions. I'm so used to HUGE portions because that's how I grew up. So it's visually pleasing to me when I have an abundance of food in front of me. But I have to move myself away from that image and focus on quality versus quantity. And also focus on not liking to "overstuffed" feeling :P
Got a good workout plan for tomorrow. Until then*Sarina* !!!
