Here is an interesting question. I am not even sure if anyone can present a solid annser to it really but here it goes:
Is it possible for some people to simply have "thicker" skin than others???
Do waste your time telling me about getting leaner, nail your diet...blah blah blah i know it, i do it. Its a simple question out of curiosity

I believe the answer is yes
Now I'm aware I just posted Philip Ricardo Jr. and compared him to JoJo Ntiforo, an untested competitor, but I think it shows what I'm trying to say. Two guys with freaky conditioning but the skin just....seems different.
On second thought, from what I've read natural bodybuilders don't have as much of an issue with water retention as enhanced bodybuilders do, so the thick skin could just be a water retention issue. Just food for thought, looking forward to others chiming in. I'd definitely be interested if someone can find an example like the one I posted, but between two natural competitors.
On that note, my father has ridiculous vascularity in his arms and calves even though he only lifts weights a few times a month. He's 5'7", 200 lbs. and upwards of 20% bodyfat. Meanwhile when I was prepping for my show, I still only had veins here and there even when I got well under 10% levels. When people say vascularity is largely genetic, how much of those vascularity levels is actually made up of skin thickness differences?instagram.com/roanokephil - Misc follow back crew

Very cool responce man well done. I agree with the natural and unatural water retention issuse i dont really ever rely on draining water or using a duiretic because it make me look flat. Get lean abd youll look great. (im natural). But i as well think skin thickness can vary. In addition to this i think age aslo plays in as well as your past. Let me elaborate. I see some older guys in the gym around 50 ish even some in the 40s and their arm skin is paper thin! Like the skin on the back of your palm. And then theres younger guys that still look rock hard yet smooth, not as grainy. I call it the "young muscle" look. On a younger bodybuilder(age20-23 maybe), that skin is more freshly stretched out creating still a tight look yet smoother looking. On an older duude with years in lifting that skin has become stretch out maybe to varried degrees, older, and has now grown slight loser yet thinner, make sense???
Maybe im talking out my ass but it seems relevant.:keeping haters busy, one rep at a time:.
