Thanks man... I used to do lower carb (when I didn't know any better), but not so much anymore. I cycle carbs now. I generally eat 130-180 on lift days, and 100-130 on non lift days. I also used to eat really clean, but now I've embraced IIFYM, and it works just as well. Now I eat ice-cream for breakfast.
I will be on that same comp. I've done two in a row (Feb-May, May-Aug), and I will have been in the top 2 in both comps. I am mid teens body fat wise now. Aiming for low teens before I start my clean bulk.Aug of 2010 - 330 lbs <--- Never Forget

Today and yesterday, I gave up on my diet. I was just tired of eating less and just struggling. I ate NINE pieces of pizza and washed it down with two coke 710ml coke bottles. And today, I ate like FIVE mini ferrior rocher. I can tell that I am losing my control, as I keep eating more than the day before. I can't even imagine eating 550cal a day now. I did for two days.

Dropping cardio last week (I went for a about a quarter mile speedy jog today though) has really helped me dial my diet in. I'm a huge believer in cardio, I'm not a "you don't need it!" guy, but with the stage I'm at, I'm finding it easier to operate on fewer calories. I don't have as much leeway as I did when I was fatter with calories, no cardio means it's easier to get an accurate maintenance figure. Fat has been coming off steadily for the past week.
Going to keep cardio to one or two sessions a week, just to keep some conditioning, until I'm done cutting.

Although I didn't reach my goal of losing three lbs this week, I decided to keep on trudging and went to the gym to work out harder. I have awesome motivational trainers where I go and I had a heart to heart with them. I am coming to see that this is a lot mental and somewhat physical. On a random note, i did a hiit routine wear I would run on the treadmill for 3 minutes, get off, do 2 minutes of dumbell squats and back on the treadmill. Needless to say I was shot to **** after 30 mins of that routine. I am really trying to make working out my passion. So far, I am doing ok. This site is very motivational.

I'm waiting til I start a bulk to quit smoking---I think lyle mcdonald said if you are addicted to a drug (I've been smoking for ~15 years, so I'm probably addicted to nicotine) dieting is the wrong time to quit, hormone wise. But yeah, it hasn't hindered me cardio wise, I'm actually kind of a "beast" when it comes to cardio, at least as far as endurance is concerned.

Had a nice little cheat meal today but I'm fairly certain I stayed near my normal deficit. Went for a 12 mile round trip ride with dinner and a movie (Captain America) in the middle. Not movie snacks, just a diet coke that I barely touched. This after working my shift and then lifting for about an hour. Dinner was a small shredded beef chimichanga and some chips with salsa. The movie and dinner were almost as good as that ride. Feels good man.

see thats what im not sure of. does the actual act of quitting smoking cause weight gain? or the fact that most people replace the cravings with food? i've spent hours researching it and can't really find any conclusive evidence on it. i'd just rather not take any chances, i've come so far and i dont want to have anything hinder me or set me back when im this close to the "finish line"

I don't want to give you any wrong information, but my friend was a Marlboro Red two packer a day. I have never smoked a day in my life but from what he described it was brutal. The withdrawal symptoms from the nicotine. Maybe it was an oral fixation ? He was in fairly decent shape but gained a good 30 lbs when he quit. They do have some medications for quitting however Im not sure if it will hinder progress on weight loss / bodybuilding. Either way, I hope it works out for you. I wonder if chewing tobacco has the same effect. I have a friend that lifts too and dips like a mad man.

i chew occasionally as well. i'm also a big fan of cigars. its all the same. i would never take any of the drugs for quitting. if i quit it will be cold turkey.
ive tried to quit a couple times and yes the withdraw is hell. you get angry at everyone easily, your mind fogs up, you can't think clearly, you become irrational and make dumb decisions, you lose any drive you have for anything. its awful. i wish i never started to be honest.

Never a smoker so I can't say for sure, but I'm on an AD med that lots of people swear is a direct cause of weight gain and yeah, I gained weight when I started taking it, but I've also been cutting just fine now that I'm tracking calories. I'm pretty sure I just grazed more when I started taking it and really didn't notice.
Now cutting: Got a little more squishy than I wanted, heading down to 160lbs and seeing how things look.

Over the weekend I went to visit my family for birthdays, business and a new baby on the way for a friend. Ended up partying and drinking Fri/Sat night.
Despite running Sat and Lifting Sunday, I weighed in 3lbs heavier this morning. Though after 45 minutes cardio in the morning and 45 at night I was 1lb lighter than last Thursday, so a 4lb drop in one day.
I'm... confused

I screw up my sets by pausing. Need to work harder.
