Hey All,
Thought I'd create a new journal as I feel my previous one has run its course. Wanting to start fresh as I've just returned from a 5 week holiday to the US and will be weak as fark. Had an amazing time. Posted a few pics in my old journal if you want to check them out.
So a little about me, been lifting on and off to quite a few years. But only really seriously the past year and a half. I reached the lifts in my sig about a year ago but due to injury, time off and cutting I haven't surpassed them. Got close them to before I went OS while being 40lbs lighter, but didn't managed to improve on them.
So the plan is to do a slow bulk for a long, long time with Madcow's 5x5 on a keto diet with weekly carb ups (CKD). There's nothing coming up for at least 6 months that will interrupt my training so hopefully I'll be able to reach my PB's within 4-5 months.
If you're wondering why I'm bulking with keto it's because I have a disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis. It doesn't affect my training but a keto diet seems to keep the symptoms under control without the need of any meds. Not only that, I generally feel better running on keto!
Anyways, enough bullshit. Time to start training as of tomorrow! Obviously starting really light as I haven't trained for a while, but I should be able to be aggressive on the increases at the start so expect some rapid progression! woo!
Cheers for following

Nice, I might check it out. Is it with Capo?
I train at fitness land in Thornbury which is near Heidelberg/Ivanhoe/Alphington. NE Suburbs anyway if you're not sure. It's not bad there. I'm the only 'serious' lifter so the power rack is always free. I've trained at 5 star a few times as well. Where do you train mate?My Madcow Journal - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=136450181

In dude because of keto. I did it once on a cut and felt so amazing, been thinking about just doing it for my life. Headaches gone energy everything was great. I even considered doing my senior paper in college on keto, I got a ton of scientific sources that suggest its healthier than low-fat diets overall. Anyways, keep us posted on the dieting brah.

So first day back after 5 or so weeks off. Obviously taking it easy today just to get a feel for it again so everything was fairly easy. Took it especially easy on squats as I would like to walk normally this week and not be crippled by DOMS lol.
Weight was 97.5kg! Obviously put on a decent amount of fat and lost some muscle. Before my holidays I was around 9% BF, now I think I'm at around 12-13 at the same weight.
Overall it felt good to be back. Can't wait to get hyooooge. My Madcow Journal - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=136450181

Decided to do OHP on wed instead of incline. I enjoy the lift more and I want massive shoulders so I guess it's the right choice. 60kg was fine. Hopefully be able to add 2.5kg for quite a few weeks to come. PB on OHP is 82kgx5 or 181lbsx5 but I was fat (260).
Deads felt good tonight. Probably wouldn't have wanted to start any heavier. I'll add 10kg for 2-3 weeks then back down to 5kg increments. Should be able to reach 210kgx5/463x5 without much trouble. Improving on that will probably be a bitch though...

Bought a new comp last night and spent a few hours putting it together. Decided to just go to gym today. Doesn't really matter as I'm only lifting girly weights at the moment. Gotta say though, a 24" HD LED monitor = sexual.
So to the workout. Not much to mention, everything was pretty easy except the set of 8 on rows. It wasn't hard but required much more effort than anything I did previously.. Turns out I was looking at my bench weights, not rows. Also, wtf at pullups. I ALWAYS get 7-8 no matter what on my first set. Never improve on that kunt of an exercise, and don't seem to have lost any strength on it while I was OS. wtf? I may switch to bum-ups or something.
Weight: 96.4kg. Losing weight still but I guess that's just my glycogen levels being depleted. I think I'll weigh myself every Friday and that's it. If I weight myself every session then my weight is going to be all over the shop when I carb up, deplete etc etc. Haven't carbed up yet, think I'll just do another week of SKD, then switch to CKD. Energy levels were goodMy Madcow Journal - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=136450181

1080p porn = awesomness on this screen. It's like you're there lol.
With the pullups I don't know what to do. When I was 260, I was getting 8. When I was 220, I was getting 8. No matter what I do I can never improve on that. You'd think after my trip I'd get like 4-5, but no, I almost get 8 again. fuuu
go buy one then! I'm sure screens are cheap as fark in the US as they are here. You can get a 27" LED HD monitor here for a bit over $300. This 24" cost me $230, but it's one of the better ones. I saw a 24" LED for $170 when I was checking out screens.
Yeah mate, I'll quickly increase my lifts the first few weeks then back down while SLOWLY increasing my weight. I want to be pulling 600 or at least close to it by the years end. No reason why I can't. Got up to 540ish in a few months earlier in the year.My Madcow Journal - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=136450181

If you were a follower of my old log, you'd probably remember "aussie saying of the day". So to make my log a little more exciting while my numbers improve I've decided to bring it back. Downloaded an aussie slang app which has 100's of them so should be able to keep up the lols for a while (yes, there's an app for our slang lol). I'll post one now, but I'll start posting them after my workouts only starting from tomorrow.
Aussie Saying of the Day
Beer Compass - An invisible device that always helps one find their way home somehow no matter how drunk they are.
Dunno bout you guys, but that's saved me quite a few times. It's magical ha haMy Madcow Journal - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=136450181

Beer compass also works in other ways from my experience, the drunker you get the beer compass will get stronger in locating the nearest place with more beer.
and sometimes Beer compass has a hidden option that isent used all that much but really helps in those really long tired walks home..... It can often find an open house that isent yours that you can safely pass out at and wonder where the hell you are when you wake up. I think how this option works is that it can tell when another Beer Compass is working at very high levels, and activates pass out in your own home mode with the door wide open to allow other Beer Compasses to safely rest for a few hours. My Powerlifting Journal =

haha.
Its magical properties shine when you're in a foreign country/area too. Dunno how it works but I always manage to find my way back to my hotel without any trouble. Happened a few times when I was just in the US. Blind drunk, no idea where I'm going and I still find my way home... Amazing stuff. If I tried it sober I'd get lost, guaranteed. My Madcow Journal - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=136450181

Bottle-o - means liquor shop. We also call them bottle shops but bottle-o is used pretty much exclusively here now, at least in Melbourne.Last edited by wick; 07-29-2011 at 02:44 AM.
