Sometimes that fear of economic insecurity loves to just rear its ugly head. lol
The promises for all year round.
I struggled with unemployment last year and lost my home. Still couldnt find a good enough reason to drink. It was a good reason to reflect on where I've been and the journey i've been on. And no one said I would be skipping down the road to happy recovery. Sometimes we gotta trudge through it. Its just one more thing to add to my testimony. And you cant have testimony without test. and although sometimes that light at the end of the tunnel is a train, I wouldnt give up a single moment of my recovery for anything. I'm sure you dont feel like drinking over it, you've come a long way for that misery again. Life happens and we are not always joyfull nor do we have to be. This is just a moment and the best you can do is to get into the solution. I know you can and will.
best of luck and hope this helps.

One of my sponsees went out a couple of days ago. First time experiencing this. Of course my first thought it what could I have done different, What didn't i tell him that I needed to tell him.. yada yada yada...Im realizing there is a little bit of pride and ego tied up in all of that because I feel as though my sponsee's ability to stay sober is directly related to my abilities at sponsoring someone. Of course this is not the case. Im not that powerful and as long as Im there for them and teach them what was taught to me , directly out of the big book, thats all i can do. Anyways thought Id share a little something in here since I haven't posted in a little while...been postin over on the misc...lol which aint really the most spiritual place on this site.
Anyways glad to see everyone is doing well.

good to hear from you remedy
yeah the misc is not the most conducive environment for sobriety.
lots o lulz though
I have had issues learning to place proper boundaries in sponsorship back in the day, having someone your sponsoring with years of sobriety go back out and then die in the process was a rough thing, but it made me realize that I am not the higher power, and also taught me how important it is to stay grounded.

Been sober about 8 months and just got back into the gym after a long time away.Lost my 1st home due to a back injury and my wife was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the same time.We got back on top, then ms put her in a wheelchair.Wouldn't you know it ,I needed another back surgery. I'm outta work, she cant walk and she looks at me and says....ya know hon, things could always be worse.Since then shes walking,I'm feeling good,my son's about to start college, and my daughter is right behind him.Life got better.Point is life throws stuff at you,but it makes you stronger and things do get better.I recently got layed off myself and I hear ya on the headgames. But keep your head up and stay focused,it'll turn around.God bless.

Why isnt this thread a sticky?? srs.
Of all the threads I've seen this is the only one where everyone is respectful and shows a general concern for the other posters and is extremly supportive for those who are suffering.Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. – Thomas Jefferson

That's why I jumped in yesterday.Kinda my first attempt to reach out. It's a lonely road, and although my wife is supportive I can't expect her to know how to help me.This is the longest I've gone without and don't want to go back.Sounds like there's some positive talk here.I really started working out again to reconnect with my son,he's 18 now.He loves to hit the weights, like I used to.Think I lost his respect the day he realized I was just a functioning alcoholic. We're a lot better now.Anyway,Have A good one and thanks for the inspiration everyone.

Emma is still here!!! Just using my real name now LOL. I was paranoid about it, but felt it safe to use my real name after being here a while. Emma was a combination of my daughters' names (Emily & Ava).....
For sure I'm not perfect, I have indeed fallen off the wagon, but too ashamed to share that here. For that I am sorry. I feel those that have something positive to share are more important to this thread.
I will say this. I AM doing OK. I really am. I just feel that since I am occasionally drinking, I would not be welcome here. furthermore, should I come post and not mention that fact, I feel that would just be horrible.
You all mean very much to me, and if I have let anyone down. I truly apologize Please don't say I have let myself down, because I do not feel that I have at this point. I really am doing well, and my problem with alcohol is something different that many would not understand. Lets just say it's been burned in my brain since the day I was born. It's sick and weird, but I was branded to be this person since birth by not so healthy parents and I bought into it. I bought into a lot of stuff they have put into my head~Beth

I would hope that falling off the wagon would be something you would feel comfortable sharing here. I mean, of all people alcoholics & addicts understand what it's like to quit over and over ad nauseam. I do, anyway.
You have my number, and you're still welcome to call me, anytime. And I'll still be happy to take you to a meeting, anytime. They're really not all that bad!
