My point was just that the body can adapt. People can survive weeks without food intake and still have energy to move their muscles.
Some folks have Feast Diets, where they eat 1 large meal a day consisting of 3000 calories and are more ripped and lift more than you (Yes, even you)
Some eat 12 meals a day and are fat.
You're going to both extremes and ignoring the fact that maybe there is middle ground, or maybe there's just not enough evidence to prove one way or the other.Dec 1: 191 │ Dec 8: 190 │ Dec 15: 189 │ Dec 22: 187 │ Dec 29: 188
Total December Loss: 3lbs (2%)
Jan 5: 190 | Jan 12: 186 | Jan 19: 185 | Jan 26: 185
Feb 2: xxx | Feb 9: xxx | Feb 16: xxx | Feb 23: xxx
Goal : 175, Final Weight : xxx

The Funny thing is your a Bro and probably on GEAR which is why you have the muscle mass that you do for your height.
No your clueless its something called CALORIE BALANCE. When you exceed that amount whether you do it with Protein, Fat , or Carbs it is stored.
Have you ever heard of STFU and GTFO. If not start listening.

Wow. Posted at like 4pm and the stupidity only got worse.
Jessbess and other broscientists: please look up the IF (Leangains) diet and some of the people who are currently on it. They put you (and myself) to SHAME in terms of aesthetics and lifting stats. Please explain to them how eating 80% of their calories (including protein) at ONE MEAL doesn't work..."Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Check out this:

He eats 3x or 7x a day and sometimes consumes 2 or 3 meals in one sitting. Meal frequency and timing is NOT IMPORTANT. In that case, he is eating around anywhere between 80-150g of protein in one sitting. How do you explain that???Denver Broncos- #24 Champ Bailey

Lol at jessbess.
Jesbess, if you intend to use anecdotal evidence, at least you have made some fake avi and not shown this scrawny skinny fat unimpressive physique of yours.
This is all you've got and you started lifting in 2005?
You fail here, brah.
Go eat some protein and lift some iron.Last edited by juliacheh; 04-27-2011 at 09:04 PM.

My question about protein absorption and nutrient timing is this:
Two possible scenarios I can come up with.
1. If whey proteins absorption rate is about 10 grams an hour then would that mean that anything above that would not be utilized and be oxidized or converted to glucose via gluconeogenisis.
OR
2. It's sitting in the digestive process waiting it's turn to be absorbed like in the following example.
I weigh 200 pounds - 175 lean.
I hypothetically drink a 200 gram whey protein shake at 8am in the morning. Based on projections of whey digesting about 10 grams an hour my body would be provided amino acids for 20 hours. There would be a four hour window from 4am to 8am while I'm asleep that my body would be without protein.
So if were being extreme and technical then nutrient timing is important for this single instance if true. You would want it divided if you want constant availability of aminos for a 24 period.

Whoa didn't expect this on this thread!
In coming up with my protein intake, I had researched that the recommended intake for muscle building was 1 - 1.5g per Kg of body mass.
I decided to take 2g per Kg of body mass as I did read one study that demonstrated results on this intake. Worse case scenario is my body would excrete the excess.
For me this worked out to be 150g, taken as a whey protein shake (with water) just after my workouts. It seemed to work for me. Not sure about timings of protein intake (ie splitting it up throughout the day), my main concern was taking it straight after my workouts.About Me:

Research aside, some of you guys take things to an extreme that defies common sense. In what ****ing world is it practical to force feed yourself 200g of protein in one sitting, and then go 24 hours without consuming any further protein, on any type of regular basis? This isn't an issue of absorption it is an issue of practicality and well being. Yes early man often had to do this when we were hunters/gatherers, but it isn't the most comfortable or practical ways of going about consuming one's protein. You could certainly do it that way and still make progress, but why would you?
