My best friend picked up the habit bout a year and a half ago. I'm not against it, but I don't think it should be made into a lifestyle like some make it out to be. When it takes over you like it seems have affected my friend then yes it can change you.
It's all he talks and thinks about, it gets pretty annoying.

it's a substance. People use it. People are not all the same. Therefore, different people react differently to said substance. Same with other substances.
Personally, can't say I've changed much, I know ppl who get wrapped up in "the lifestyle" and wear tie dye, listen to phish, etc. It just depends on how much personal willpower you have and how comfortable you are with yourself and your level of societal acceptance*Korea Krew* *MMMC*

It definitely can and will if you smoke it for any period longer than a few weekends.
It can be in good or bad ways and is highly (get it?) dependent on the person. I, myself, indulged for a long period from high school to college and have now since kicked the green.

It does. But it all depends on how often you use it IMO. If you become a daily toker then obviously your mentality, personality, and priorities will change.

yes, as someone who smoked daily for 2 years it changed my perception on life. i became more socially anxious and was really only happy when in my little shell when being high. i am cutting it ouy of my life except for weekends and rare occasions. imo, it can be helpful in small doses but when you start to rely on it for entertainment, you're going down the wrong path

I smoke everyday pretty much. I don't believe it has changed me. Do I need it? No Do I like doing it? yes Does that change me as a person? No.
But I just don't see on the couch and smoke, I get **** done. The only thing that has changed I would say is sleeping. I pretty much have to be high to sleep good. FAIL!Life is too Short

Depends on the person and personality. Some people can use it for a while, enjoy it, and still live life. Some people lose all motivation in life and become worthless stoners.

It makes people lazy... and basically prevents them from ever obtaining anything in life.
Very few serious potheads ever amount to anything..
But their brains are stimulated in such a way they always think "tomorrow" and think everything is going to work out great..
till they are old with nothing... to show for a wasted life.

so do people fall into the habit easily or did they already make the choice that they would do it regularly?

i think, marijuana lets you enjoy things you like more.
this can be a good and a bad thing. if you are a dumb **** who wants to sit round all day and be lazy and dirty, that is going to happen. on the other side if you are interested in reading or playing ball , you are going to smoke one and enjoy the **** out of it.
mj got me more open minded about things and intrested in things that i wouldnt be interested in in my "sober" days, because i would think they are not "cool" or socially accepted.- Das Ass thread: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=142109391&p=828290691#post828290691

It definitely can change you. I've smoked a lot of weed in my over the last few years but overall I'm the same. I've seen some people who obsess over weed though and spend all day smoking it and talking about it. I smoked so much to the point where I wasn't even getting that high anywhere so I'm stopping till my tolerance lowers up again.

i havnt really hanged as a person since i started smoking it, i'm probably just a bit more open minded and willing to listen to peoples opinions and accept them, rather than try and change it.

Yeah, it can definitely change your perspective on anything really, especially with your permanently high for a long period of time. Just take the time to stop once in a while and make sure what your thinking is how you should be thinking.

Yes it can just like pretty much any other substance. The change can be good or bad or no change at all.
