    Tuna & Water Diet

What do you guys think about a Tuna & Water diet.

3 to 5 tuna sandwiches a day with lots of water.

Im using chunk light tuna in water......should I be worried about Mercury poisoning?
    You in them shoes yet?

I don't think any diet you can't maintain for life is a great idea. I think I'd get sick of tuna sandwiches by lunchtime on the first day.
If you threaten people with a neg, you need to get out more... it's only an online forum lol.

Eating 3-4 tuna sandwiches a day? For how long? If you maintain that for any sort of length of time, yes, I'd worry about Mercury.

Plus, that just sounds foul. How long do you think you could keep that up until you never wanted to see a tuna sandwich again?

I've been eating a can of tuna a day for lunch as my protein for like 5 months and no mercury poisoning yet..... maybe someday who knows...lots of dif options with canned tuna and its so low in calories it allows my dinners to be larger

but ya every meal of the day would start to suck rather quickly

i usually mix it up between tuna and rice stir fry...tuna sandwich's...tuna salad...tuna melts...plain from the can

    LOL

Reps are on recharge for you sir.

OP: In short and no offense, it's an awful idea. Set up a diet you can stick with, not some sort of binge/turbo diet. And yes, that much tuna and I would be concerned about mercury.

Ive been eating 2-3 cans a day for over a few months now, no problems.

But from what I read in that article as long as you allow you kidneys to adjust it's fine. Plus I eat canned chunk light which has the lowest mercury

EDIT: Your smaller than me so according to that article I can consume more tuna than you and be safer.

But really, that "diet" would suck, your not even gonna get all the nutrients from it...and it would get old fast.

These diets are just stupid, they are controlled calorie portions.....you can do the same thing with variety at least....just get balanced diet. Good god people. Crash diets like this are the reasons people get excited, frustrated, quit, gain 50 lbs, repeat.

1 can of tuna is 194 calories. 1 slice of bread is roughly 100. each sandwich would be about 400 calories.

So you are just doing a diet that is 1200(3 sandwiches)-2000(5 sandwiches) calories.

Do you realize how many more tasty foods you can eat with those calories? Go to the nutrition thread and read up on calorie counting.

It's says everywhere you need a balanced diet, with just tuna sandwiches there is definitely some nutrients you'll be missing out on (I don't know what nutrients), but it would be best to just have a variety of good meals.

Sounds like a bad idea. You would need a strong multi vitamin to make up for all the nutrients your missing out on and you would most likely have to use a high fiber low carb bread which will taste like ****.

    Also mercery poisoning.

You can get bread that only have 35 calories per slice.

But to the tuna and water. It seem like you would get really tried with that.

As stated, this diet is a bad idea. Also, google is your friend when you want to know things like how much tuna is too much.

nrdc.org/health/effects/mercury/tuna.asp There is also a link on that page for a mercury calculator to figure out if your mercury ingestion is safe.

Losing weight isn't about going on a diet. You go on a diet, you can come off a diet. Make a lifestyle change. That will get you some results, but you can't live off it. Just eat healthy.. Not to mention after 2 weeks, you'll be sick as hell of tuna.

Wait... Water is considered a diet item? I choose to drink water by choice. Also I've been eating tuna out of the can for lunch for the past couple of weeks and I have to say its a pretty boring meal after eating it for two weeks. Your diet is gonna suck so much.

So you are just doing a diet that is 1200(3 sandwiches)-2000(5 sandwiches) calories.

Do you realize how many more tasty foods you can eat with those calories? Go to the nutrition thread and read up on calorie counting.
What kind of tuna and bread do you use? One pouch of albacore tuna has 90 calories, and double fiber wheat bread is 50 calories a slice... 190 cals a sandwich, not bad at all (not to mention 17g protein and 11g fiber). I'm not saying eat nothing but tuna sandwiches, but they are perfect in a cut.
