Srsly I don't get the point...kids in my class all have 2000 dollar Macbook Pros...yet ALL they use it for is ********, email, powerpoint slides, and torrenting....
What is so special about them other than the fact it makes you a trendy liberal if you have one?

I graduated last year and MacBooks were trending just when I got in. By the time I had left, practically everyone had one, but they owned it for all the wrong reasons. Between the MBP and Toshiba, the MBP provides a much richer end-user experience. Just as an example, the screen is 50% more brighter than most of the LED screens out there. All the university students cared about was a lit Apple sign on the back of their laptop.

I've got a $700 toshiba and it's a fuking piece of sh*t. I've had it for 6 months and literally everything on it is broken. I think the motherboard is fried. Every PC I've ever owned (3 laptops and 1 desktop) has lasted no longer than 1.5 years. My brother bought a macbook pro 5+ years ago and it's still just as fast as the day he bought it. My next computer will be a macbook pro.

Macs are generally for the computer illiterate. Those who complain they get viruses/have pc problems on their pc are generally idiots who dont know how to properly take care of their machine. Mac book pro's, especially are most universities are a status symbol/trend. It shows you've got money. 500-600 dollar laptop can do the same general computing just as easily, the average college student doesnt need much computing power.

Its just a preference, they're both computers. You guys are like the supernerds a couple years back arguing about which is better, PS3 or Xbox. I have a Mac Book Pro and i like it alot, not gunna lie. They have alot of nifty features like the trakpad and room light sensor that add to the ease of use. Then theres people who would rather have raw power, be able to play nice games, run cool programs i can't. It's a game of trade offs. Macs are expensive too. It depends on your preference, what you like is what you like, nothing else should matter, fuk the haters lol.
