Just caught this video off a FB thread, and saw that only a few people have watched it. It is something that all of us here can relate to. Hell, it brought tears to my eyes!!

He's in incredible shape now, but he doesn't have much more size from when he started. I work with several intense crossfit cultist, and though they are strong and fit, I'm just not impressed with them visually. I guess I'm more in this for the vanity and just want to be bigger so I'm going the bodybuilding route.
Oh that and I'm lazy.Last edited by MarkDL; 02-15-2011 at 10:46 AM.

repped for a very cool video!
Along with "fail" and the other text... he should have said something like "who is this chick?" ... "doesn't she know I'm making a movie?" ... "I wonder if she's seeing anyone?" .... when the girl came into frame.Taught by Dr. Squat himself back in the late 90s

lol you guys are hilarious.
Thanks for checking out the video, I'm glad some can identify with it even though it probably has nothing to do with the training you may be doing.
I originally made it for the members of our gym as sort of a motivational tool because I haven't been there very long and none of them saw my struggles and it can be hard for them to see how someone gets to those numbers. It's pretty cool to see how much it's been passed around.
And the KB girl is my girl.

The earliest clips from that video are only last Feb. Believe me the first few months were rough.
I was an 8x provincial champ over 200-400m and all-canadian in HS football before the "low" and looked nothing like that. I'm aware its nowhere near what many people reach in terms of lows, but I was moving in the wrong direction for about 2 years and decided to turn it around. <--thats the point.

The intensity with which he approaches his workouts is impressive. Gotta have the intensity and the focus!

Sure no problem.
Those movements are involved in Crossfit and I did see my numbers increase when I started, just following the crossfit.com workouts. As things progressed and I got more geared toward competition I started to program in a lot more heavy lifting because that was a big weakness for me if it were to come up in competition.
Once I moved into an affiliate gym last September I finally had some proper equipment to do olympic lifting and really started to work on those.
So to answer your question, yes on both counts.
It's all within my training for crossfit. Obviously powerlifting and olympic lifting are their own things, but they are also movements seen in crossfit and I haven't decided to specialize in them.
Improving all my lifts was a huge priority for me in the past 6 months, so absolutely working on those were my own goals. I do my own programming for the most part because I have a good idea of what needs work. I suppose you can call it Crossfit Strength Bias.
Sidenote: That trick on the bike is pretty badass. I've held a handstand on a moving skateboard, but never a bike.
