hang in there OP
my first semester of college i got straight C's. feltbadman. I continued to treat it like it was high school. I quickly learned that college required studying if i was going to do anything significant
almost never got a C again. if you eff up next semester also (after this realization) then you probably wont make it***Gender Non-Committed***

Me too brah. First year I ****d around first time living on my own went crazy got into all types of sh!t sold drugs and made ridiculous money living in student accomodation as everyone wants ket or weed. Got mugged at knifepoint and my ass kicked in a lift they took my keys and robbed my room with over £5000 worth in there. Luckily I didn't buy it on tap. But, yeah lost a lot of money and ****ed up my first year. I applied for 'mitigation' claimed my grandparents from overseas had died and I could not focus on my work and let me re sit.
Now this year and I still have been ****ing around having fallen into a bad crowd and gonna try and learn and revise 3 months of work into 3 weeks for 3 key exams. FML

Last year I got by doing almost nothing, just taking gen ed classes and got a 3.53.
BUT this year, my sophomore year, I moved off campus into a house with a bunch of friends and did nothing but smoke erryday and workout. I had to withdraw from my calc 1 class (easy as hell, just didn't go to class or do the homework), got a D in biological psychology, and a B+ and B in my other two classes. This was the biggest wakeup call of my life, now I'm motivated to do nothing but study next semester. Be glad it happened early on and you know how hard you have to work to get that stupid ass piece of paper

I did the same thing OP. Was on academic probation after my first semester. I got out of it and have been pulling 3.0s since. You can retake those classes too, depending on your school the F's will be replaced with the new grade. After 2 years my GPA has gone up from a 1.8 to a 3.6. It comes down to owning up to your mistakes. Recognize you messed up and you can change things if you put the effort in. Don't let it get you down too much, just focus on what you can do next semester to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Eeek.. good luck brah. If you had problems at ACC you're going to have a **** ton of problems at Tech.
(<--- former Tech student)
There's nothing to do but drink and smoke weed. Plus Lubbock is depressing as FUUUU and none of the teachers are worth paying attention to. If you can avoid it, do so at all costs. It's a party school.. not an educational school.
After fawking up 3 semesters at Tech I transfered to CC and started taking 40 hours of class/week (10 hours per day 4 days a week). I'm making a 3.67 now and plan to make straight A's until I get my assoc's, then transfer to a satellite ASU for my BSE/BSME.
A lot of people don't appreciate this but it is probably too early for you to take classes OP. Once you start taking classes at college you can't party like everyone else. There are some freaks that party a lot and still manage good grades but I'm not one of them. It took some time for me to appreciate how important it is to work hard now for the degree so I don't have to bust my ass later for less money. It isn't too late to get your act together and study but you have to want it.

Nah, I had problems at ACC, but I'm good now. I learned what studying was. First semesters I did bad because I was still in high school mode.
Also, I'm from a smallish town so I don't think there will be much of a difference, although the geography of the region is pretty depressing. But I doubt that Lubbock is much worse than College Station.
I've never heard anything good about ASU to be honest. But I've heard a lot of good things about Tech. Plus, big 12 football and a recognizable name is a pretty good thing. My only other realistic option was Texas State, but Tech hit me up with some transfer schollys and swayed my choice.
