UPDATE!
Here is the poster advertising the fundraiser and where the donations go
this is where the donations will go... http://www.nhrmc.org/body.cfm?id=90
Sadly enough, here is what has been donated so far (around 10 days)
4 of those 6 sand dollars were donated by us at the car wash.
As of now, I have donated $90 (i went to work this morning not knowing how many people would post in this thread, so i just got 90 sand dollars, haha). I am about to write the names, or messages, of the first 90 who posted in the thread on the sand dollars... I will provide another update when I get done!
IT TAKES 10 SECONDS TO POST IN THIS THREAD! THIS ENDS SATURDAY AT 7 AM EST! POST NOW!
Hi Misc! So the holiday season is here, and it has got me to thinking. I take way too much for granted. Sometimes, I get down on myself and life because I don't have a ton of money, or college is getting rough, mother isn't a part of my life, whatever...
The thing that I have a hard time grasping is that I have a job and a place to live, I am a senior in college at a pretty good university, and my father and I are closer than ever now because of my parents getting divorced. In addition to these things, there is one thing that I take for granted time and time again... my health.
I have never been really sick, nor have I ever had any major injuries, etc. I've been blessed, Misc, just as many of you have. Sadly enough, not everyone gets to 22 years old with good health. Many kids don't even make it to their teens.
I work at a car wash down the road from my apartment complex, and they have this ongoing fundraiser ordeal there. They have been doing it for about a week and a half, I'd say. If you donate $1, you get to write your name on a piece of paper that looks like a sand dollar (I live at the beach) and the "sand dollar" is posted in the lobby.
The money goes to the Betty H. Cameron Women's and Children's Hospital (link above). They actually purchased an ambulance designed for kids over the summer, because there wasn't one before and EMS crews were having to improvise when they picked up kids in the ambulances. I've been told that there are committees that head up the distribution of donations so that the money doesn't go where it shouldn't, which is really cool. This hospital saves lives, Misc.
SO HERE IS THE DEAL. For every miscer that posts in this thread, I will donate $1 to the charity. Sadly enough, because I don't have a lot of money, I will have to cut this off by 7 a.m. EST Saturday morning before I go to work. I will write either your user name or any message you specify in your post on the sand dollar. Pictures will be taken and posted here as well!
Lets try to keep the messages as PG-13 as possible. I donated a dollar the other day and wrote "Samuel L. Jackson" on it and posted it right next to the register... it got some pretty good reactions lol
LETS MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN SOME LIVES HERE MISC!
