    Fasting Extremes

My friend will not be eating anything for 10 days.

Something about cleansing his body from too much sugar intake.

What are the implications of doing this?

He claims that this is some sort of scientific thing but it sounds like BS. Does anyone have any more information on this or what he might be trying to accomplish?

People have been doing this nonsense recently. It's a joke, but do your best to google complications. I am sure you can find something of use.

It is pointless to clense the body, as it cleanes it self. The body is a complex biological machine, not ur sink drain. Not eating is absolutly stupid, as u slow ur digestion down, and any kind of processe in ur body. And don't have enough calories and nutrients to make it work properly. If nothing is moving what r u cleaning?

Actually, BMR will slow during fasting, but digestion of any remaining food is not affected.

At the least, it should result in heavy ridicule from you.

well yeah, but I need the ammunition--He knows more about nutrition (supposedly lol).

I'm just trying to figure out what the heck he's talking about. He's just vague about why he's doing it or where he got the idea from.

He claims to do it every now and then and he feels great afterward...

Anything can be claimed to be scientific. The interweb is tricky that way...
Short term Goal: To cut back before bulking like a demon.
Mid term Goal: To find myself.
Long term Goal: To get what's mine.

67 lbs in 9 years and still counting... (started at 100lbs)

It's a hater's job to hate. So let them hate...

True. In fact, we will all die...someday.

But for a healthy individual, a ten day fast will not cause death (assuming adequate intake of fluids).

If he was truly knowledgeable about nutrition, then there would be no need to detox. Treat this like a religious argument - Smile and nod, move on (with a sandwich in hand).

His will be spinning more in 10 days time. Just point and laugh while downing a subway sub in front of him.
