I usually do cardio first then I do weight training, but I've been told to do the opposite for weight loss, which one is correct.

Most people find that they are stronger if they lift first. Cardio first makes them weaker, lifting first does not make them slower on the cardio.
The order is irrelevant to weight loss, which comes down to energy out vs energy in. And energy in is much easier to control. For example, a typical hour of cardio will burn 200-300kcal. One large fries from McDs, 500kcal. So you can do 2 hours of cardio, or not eat the fries. Up to you.
You don't go to the gym to lose weight. Strength, fitness and flexibility are built in the gym, size at the dinner table.

I've lost 80 lbs and I've done cardio before and cardio after. As Kim pointed out ... it doesn't matter.
Personally I choose to do cardio after I lift simply because, as has been mentioned, I don't want to go into my lifting tired from cardio. I'd rather put all my effort into the lifting and then follow up with milder cardio, than the other way around.

Cardio is my eyes is a tad bit more draining (depending on how long you go) so, I would think it could def hurt you when you go pump that iron. I would stick with Lifting then Cardio. Besides, after lifting... I think it feels good to do some cardio afterwards, since your movements are larger and faster, stretching your warmed up muscles.
