When Eddie died, we all felt sad, but the circumstances around this death has many suspicions and generalizations. I don't know what happened, and I'd like to just have ONE THREAD that DOES NOT involve the crime, guilty or not, here...just to say good-bye to a great wrestler I think everyone liked.
Please keep crime related junk from this thread...let this be just about an expression of mourning...I think I'm not the only one looking for such a thread among the clusterf#ck of other threads.
From Steve (me): I miss you. I'm sure many girls thought I was even more weird, besides still getting excited about wrestling, I'd point you out as one of my favorite, and praise you...and they'd look at you and think "huh?..ok". I had no shame then because you were so talented and great to watch. I'll remember that while the media and others will suspect, think of theories, and forget your life and your work.
Mods...please...

He was an amazing performer no doubt about that, nobody else in the modern era has been able to have the match quality he has over the last 18 years.

Japan burnt out Hokuto & Toyota, Angle was a top flight worker for about 4 years before injuries set in, Eddie was an excellent worker but did not really hit his peak until the mid 1990's and passed away in 2005, Samoa Joe has not been wrestling that long, Malenko was a fine worker but retired pretty young, Bret was an inconsistent performer at house shows and again his injury forced him to retire in 2000, HBK was a great worker for 10 years but had to retire in 1998 and has not been at that great standard on a consistent basis since he came back and Foley was never a great in ring performer it was more about bump taking, brawling and promos, Liger has gone off in recent years, same with Misawa who has been poor for several years & even Kobashi has suffered with his injuries.

Benoit made professional wrestling seem real. He made it seem legit. Every time he was in the ring, you believed he was actually struggling for survival, fighting to win. Sometimes, when you watch some of the up and coming stars, you can tell how green they are. They set up moves, or set up spots that just make you shake your head. Sometimes, a wrestler will get kicked in the stomach and will bend over and just....wait for his opponent to run into him with a knee or kick. Not Chris.
Benoit was a master at selling. They said he couldn't cut a promo to save his life, but he didn't need to. He told a story in the ring better than Triple H could tell on the mic. When Benoit sold an injury, sometimes I wondered if he was really hurt. He made it seem so very real.
Benoit, I'm so truly sorry for what happened to you. You were my hero and my inspiration. When you were traded to ECW, I actually intended on watching.
I met you twice, and you were gratious both times. I consider myself lucky to have been able to shake your hand. I didn't know you, but you were very much a part of my life.
I spoke with Chad Wicks the other day regarding this tragedy and he said,
"I knew a great man, a great friend, great wrestler, his name was Chris Benoit, he was killed by a man "That man, I did not know!"
...A Superstar isn't just his IMAGE on tv, their lives are just as anyone elses, anything can happen... Like I said... Chris Benoit, his wife, and his son, were killed by a man, "That man, I do not know"........"
__
Rest in Peace, Chris. I'll miss you.WOOOO!

its not really flaming, people have the right to not wish him well.
I for one think, if he did do this it wasn't the normal Benoit that we've been watching the past 15-20 years. I don't think he was capable of this. If he did this something had to have gone haywire, and I believe that 100%....I don't think he could've been aware or what he was doing, whether it was just a meant break down or he was OD'g on drugs and drinking on top of it IDK, but I'm not one that thinks he was a P.O.S. that deserves to rot in hell.
I'm not giving him a pass or anything but in my gut that's what I truely believe had to have happened, especially when u take into account how EVERYONE that knew him has not had one bad thing to say. He loved his family, would fly home just to be with them for hours at a time, he never got pissed and went off on anyone, its just impossible for me to believe a sane minded Chris was behind this
and about his wrestling ability. I don't remember the first time I saw him, I don't remember what his gimmick was or heel/face. I know it was WCW tho. I know the first match I saw he would do those snap suplexes like nobody else that would almost make me cringe watching the first time they were so powerful, that's when I started becoming a fan way back then just because of that one move. I had never seen that variation of a suplex, he'd just whip those guys over like they were 50lbsLast edited by EdgarAllanPoe; 06-29-2007 at 10:25 AM.

Chris Benoit was an amazing performer and from what we have generally heard about him, an amazing individual as well. I'll miss the Rabid Wolverine.
It's tragic that most people are going to remember him for that one act that he did while ignoring what he was.The worst thing I can be is the same as everyone else. I hate that - Arnold Schwarzenegger

I agree, this is something that will overshadow a lot of fans view on him. I still refuse to judge him for his actions, since they are uncharacteristic of the person Ive seen and knew about.
Benoit was/is a legend, an inspiration, and the epitome of hardwork and passion. If I were to emulate any one for their drive and passion regarding anything it would be him. He is the greatest wrestler to step foot in that ring, and a wonderful human being. This tragic incident should not capsulate what he is about. Benoit will be missed, and I hope he finds peace. God Bless.

I can't figure out what's worse. Someone that murders his wife and child, or someone who tries to glorify the murderer. I appreciated what he did in the ring, but what he did last weekend erases all of that, and any normal person would feel the same.

I'm not against the idea of this thread (though I have lost all respect for Benoit), but haven't there already been like four or five threads that try to do this same thing?
These Benoit threads are getting ridiculous, c'mon people!<<-PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS->>

just looking at benoit I could always tell he had a screw loose. im baffled by people who think have some sort of bond with a guy that acted for a living.
i reserve judgement on the man because that's not my place

When I saw the thread title I thought it was some kind of WWE stunt.
Very tragic. I feel so sad for the kid.
