Hey everyone, I just started school two days ago, and now I have more hours in the day I used to wake up at noon and sleep around 2am and now I wake up at 8am and sleep around 1am I seem to get hungry all the time and no matter what I do I cant seem to stay at 1500 calories in the day. I am not eating differently I am eating my same complex carbs, lean proteins, good fats, and all that good stuff. Since I am unable to keep at my 1500 calories in my day I have added some extra cardio which is making me even more hungry. Any ideas what I can do to stay at my 1500 calories. Also, id like to mention that I go to school in the morning there is some walking involved its a decently big school then I come home and hit the gym for 60 mins of heavy lifting followed by 10 mins of elliptical then about 10-15 mins of jump rope at home. Would eating a little more calories like around 1600-1700 still allow me to burn fat?
Thanks

I'm too lazy to stalk your posts lol...are you a guy? If so, why are you only eating 1500? I'm eating more than that! No wonder you're hungry.
Regardless-I too have the EXACT issue at the moment. Im helping it out by switching to foods that are a little less calorie dense, and adding more veggies. Example: Instead of 200 cals of PB, which is a TINY TINY portion, I can have a BUNCH of sunflower seeds in the shell and a large salad with vinegar and oil. (theres more to a meal than that, but thats how you can expand the same amt of cals with relatively similar macros...). Chicken vs. beef. Greek yogurt vs. cottage cheese. Solid food instead of shakes. etc.~Impatience never demanded success~

Im a guy and I have never had a problem with 1500 calories a day ive been doing it since January and I have seen a 35pound decrease with an increase in strength, and high energy levels. Its just now that school started there is more hours in the day that I am awake and active so its becoming tough. The way I got 1500 calories is by taking my weight 175 multiplied by 12 then subtract that total by 600 which is my calorie deficit. I have read on the forums that the body weight times 12 formula is an effective formula and it has no failed me until now.
Thank You for the reply

1500 is tough to maintain, especially when you're awake and active for that long of a time period. When are you the most hungry; morning, noon, evening, or night? Try and plan 2 slightly larger meals, 1 in the morning to get you going for school, and then one when you feel you are the hungriest. Add in your snacks around that, and that might help you? Drinking a lot of water helps you feel full as well. Snacking on veggies=NEVER bad, maybe you could add some celery, carrots, or broccoli in as snacks. I noticed that you're getting up ~4 hours earlier than usual...do you have time to go to the gym before class? That way you could get the hunger pangs from the workout over with early in the morning instead of struggling with them later? I know as a student it is easy to snack on campus or while studying but try a few different things and see if they work.
This is to my "ten-year story." In another decade you better be prepared for me.

If you have increased your activity, ie being awake and going to class and not sleeping, then increasing your cals a bit to compensate is not going to hurt you. Your body is telling you something.

I actually wake up grab a snack I cant eat in the morning ill feel like crap then I go to school then after school come home eat 30 mins later go workout. Heres the weird thing I get hungry quicker than I usually would. I used to be able to go 2 hours without being hungry and now its like in an hour im hungry all over again. I am eating the same stuff.
zoso7982 I just noticed your response and that's a great point. You think being up those few extra hours would burn a good 300 extra calories? I mean those extra hours are spent in class sitting listening to the lecture im not exactly out there running.

Hard to tell you an exact number but you're def burning more cals being awake as opposed to sleeping. Your schedule can always change and adjust your cals/macros to what is keeping you in your routine and sane.
