Housing is awesome. Yes I'm on base and the house is both, outside is old and inside was just fully refurbished. I'll snap some pics for that and the gym is very nice, a lot better than Lacklands. It was our first self PT day and I tried to squat in the only single squat rack in the gym, my hips weren't having it due to a change in my workout schedule the past 6 months and there was some guy curling in the squat rack, lol. Racquetball looks awesome and I'm gonna play eventually. Yes, very small town but it has everything we can possibly think of, just haven't got out yet due to financial issues but I'm getting it squared away.
I've pondered this actually...

Checking out potential places for my wishlist... had some questions about these:
Luke AFB, Elmendorf AFB, Hill AFB - Anyone have any info?
Curious about housing, local communities etc

that was me in ALS.... but my reason for calling was to go out and get f*cked up. studying was the excuse
is AWACS even available at those bases?
luke is nice. i was stationed in tucson and would drive up to phoenix at least once a month. tons of stuff to do. as a young single guy, the night life is awesome. mexican food is great. there's sports to watch, too
elmendorf.... alaska.... snow and igloos, i guess
hill.... utah..... mountains and mormons. from what i have heard, hill is a great base. if you like outdoors stuff, this is the place to go. i had it on my dream sheet for awhile because it seemed like a good place to raise my kids.

i'm going to a class that has nothing to do with my job or my day to day duties. i have no clue why i'm going but my boss said to go, so i'm going.
hopefully staying off base so i can get my $60 per diem and my rental car. i'll try not to spend all my per diem at the casinos. probably won't since i'll just be getting back from a vegas trip. looks like i'll get any where between $1500 and $2000 for the TDY, which means my vegas trip will be all paid for
^^

Alright guys, I need some serious advice here because I've been pondering this more and more each day. Alright well I'm currently crosstraining, and near the end of my training. Needless to say I've failed twice, and they've given me another chance for 2 more flights to "redeem" myself. I've honestly lost all motivation for this job, and staying in the Air Force. Now I keep thinking about wanting to get out and just go to school and start a "new life" doing something I truly enjoy. I haven't been happy in the military yet, and this training isn't changing that either. Only thing different is that this job is incredibly dangerous and requires me to be much much more responsible, for myself and my crew especially. I don't feel like I'm up to this challenge, and I think I'm going to talk to my commander or even my instructor and let them know. I really don't know how well that will pan out, but I need some advice on this. Thanks.

did you see if you can go back to your old job?
why did you pick FE when you crosstrained? did you talk to any other FEs before signing up for it?
honestly, if you feel like this now, as a former aircrew member myself, i wouldn't want to fly with you. do the other guys a favor and either get serious about your job or do something else.

I talked to a few FEs before, they were the ones that convinced me of it. This was 2 years ago, a lot has changed since then. I agree with what you're saying, that's why I think it's a good idea to bring this up now before it progresses. I don't want to lead others into thinking that I'm 100% about this job when I'm not. I know this job, especially my specific job, is crucial to the aircraft, and I can't honestly say I'm up for it. I just don't have the passion nor motivation for the job. I don't know if I can go back to my old job or not, I haven't talked to them about this since I'm a little worried about the outcome. None the less it has to be done now, and hopefully they'll understand. Tomorrow I fly again, it's supposed to be one of my 2 remedial rides. I'm going to do my best, and afterward just have a long talk with my instructor.

would you stay in the AF if you could go back to your old job?
first, i'd talk to MPF and see if you can go back to your old AFSC. then i'd ask your instructors what happens if you fail. see if you go back to old job, go to another job that is available, or have the option to get out (that would depend on how much longer you have on your enlistment)

I would like to stay in the Air Force, even doing my old job. Can't say I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it's still money in my pocket and well it was fairly relaxed compared to this job. Talking to MPF is pretty hard right now, I'm scheduled to fly twice (at least) this week and MPF is on pretty much another base. It's hard to keep track of what I've said in here or not, but I've talked to another FE who's going through the same thing as me. I think he got hurt or something, anyways he's in the process of seeing if they're going to reclass him or what. He told me that they either, put you in your old job (if they have a spot), reclass you, or kick you out. I don't want to be reclassed, namely because either way I plan on getting out after this enlistment, and I've spent nearly a year in training already. My second enlistment (4 years) started this month, so I have just shy of 4 years to go. I'm just worried that I'd say "alright I'm not up for this job" and they'll give me a dishonorable discharge which would really screw me. Well, thanks for the advice, much appreciated.
