It is going to slow down your progress. Empty cals and carbs, not to mention the effect of alcohol on your system, will definitely keep you from seeing the progress you'd see otherwise. I think you know that. But it's a tradeoff and you have to have a lifestyle you can live with. If you can live with the reality that it will slow you down some, but you're still seeing results that you're happy with, then obviously you're alright. But if you aren't getting the results you'd like, that would be the quickest and easiest thing to get rid of, easiest from strictly an objective perspective anyway. But I don't think you'd be asking if the 40s weren't very important to you.

Yeah it really comes down to a judgement call about how fast you want what you want. The question is kinda similar to 'is it bad to eat a few candy bars after dinner.' But everyone has their own goals and timeline to get them. I'd definitely check that label though next time you kick one back, so that you at least know for sure what it's costing.

Are you drinking to get drunk or are you drinking socially?
If you're drinking to get a little slanted, then go with hard liquor or consider cannibis. If you're drinking socially, just stop or switch to diet 7up and lie and tell people there's vodka in it."You show me someone who got fat eating fruit and I'll show you someone with a deep fryer and too much time on their hands."

May 2010 - 145 lbs.

Short answer: No this won't slow you down at all*
*assuming you wish to lose 1-2 pounds a month
If you can, just limit yourself to one drinking a night a month and that night just get blackout drunk if need be. 40's will still be around after you are finished cutting.
"Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son."-Animal HouseMost men stop when they begin to tire.
Good men go until they think they are going to collapse.
But the very best know the mind tires before the body and push themselves further and further, beyond all limits.
Only when their limits are shattered can the attainable be reached.

Me too. Likely a couple of Sam Adams Summer Ales with the BBQ my Celts-fan bros wanted to have for gm7. But 40s? No way. If I'm drinking empty calories, I'm at least drinking something high quality. 40s are there because they get you blitzed for cheap, but they also carry a LOT more calories for your buzz.

What if you cut back on the drinks to weekends, or even better, special occasions? You can drink if you want to, but it really will not be beneficial to your overall goals. The more serious I have gotten the more I have cut out food/drink that will not help me reach my goals. Honestly, I don't even miss them anymore either. Being proud of yourself and what you have accomplished far outweighs the enjoyment any drink can give you. Best wishes to you reaching your goal man.
