I' just turned 17, and I am 5'6.5. My mom is my height, while my dad is 5'8. I started puberty around 13, but I was like 5' around that time. I believe I shot up to 5'4 at the end of 8th grade.
And around freshman year I was like what, 5'5? Then around early 2009 I shot up to 5'6, and I grew half an inch during the summer.
Problem Is that A month ago, I was diagnosed with minor scoliosis. I heard that scoliosis can shrink you. And I can't afford to lose inches in height -__-
So yeah, im supposed to go to the orthpedic doctor , and my mom said i'll probably need a brace. But Im not really sure what the brace will do. Will it help me to grow taller? Or am I doomed to be 5'6 due to scoliosis?

How do I work through scoliosis? And did you have to get a back brace?
I did some deadlifts last week , which imo helped my lower back because I had less pain(that and I did some stretches). I wanted to go back to the gym, but my mom told me not to in "fear" of me hurting it more. This time, I decided to listen , though it is pissing me the **** off. But I still want to lift weights, because i already lost 10 months for not lifting for 2 months.
And im not sure what the the degree of the curve is. All that my doctor said was that it was minor. Im supposed to go to the ortho february,

Do light deadlifts, also do pullups, and while you do them just let your back stretch out on the pull up bar and hold it as long as you can.. This will help your back straighten out, but if you have to get a brace get it that will help too.
