It is very easy to get false negatives.

Does the powerade have citric acid? That can screw this whole thing up for you. Some people can drink it with no problems, others can't. I am one of the latter. It stinks.

Does citric acid give you a false reading or does it actually kick you out of ketosis?I have been drinking alot of crystal light lemonade lately and have been getting faint if any results from keto strip. Wondering if this is why.

powerade zero and crystal light have never kicked me out of ketosis. It is all I drink.

Been a year since I took biochemistry, but I think citric acid could actually kick you out of ketosis by starting up the glycolytic cycle. But if you're eating low calorie and low carb, it's not exactly going to obliterate your fat loss, though it may blunt it to some degree.

EDIT: I wiki'd the citric acid cycle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citric_acid_cycle Looks like having excess citric acid in your blood could encourage the breakdown of pyruvate/A-CoA, which could then encourage glucose breakdown.
