It depends on the person and what they respond best to. Whether it be high volume, low volume, or somewhere in between.

I personally do 3-4 sets for each body part, but I hit each body part 2x a week.

new routine I'm doing about 7 exercises per workout, 3x a week only work bodyparts each once a week.

Most if not all exercises have 3 sets in, so I do 21 sets a workout on average, sometimes bit less.

    Depends on frequency.

Try anywhere from 1-20, depending on how you respond to it, and how often you hit each muscle.

If you are getting stronger and gaining weight, youll make gains - Size and strength

But how can I do 9 sets to cover 2 bodyparts? That's like doing my back and biceps all in just 3 exercises.. I mean I at least need deadlifts, rows, shrugs and curls minimum - that's 4 exercises alone.

    ???

    edit
you guys talking about per bodypart?

You could summarize Max-OT like this:

    1. Each workout should last approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
    2. Train only 1 or 2 muscle groups per workout/day.
    3. Do 6 to 9 total heavy sets per muscle group.
    4. Do 4 to 6 reps per set.
    5. Rest 2 to 3 minutes between sets. (STR)
    6. Train each muscle group once every 5 to 7 days. (ITR)
    7. Take a 1 week break from training every 8 to 10 weeks.
    from http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/M...tine-m390.aspx

do you see much gains from this then?
