    I don't know. I've worked out with some real serious benchers (455 @ 181), and even on the toughest days they don't get too wrecked. Same goes at the meets I've been too. Watch the lifters after theirs squats, benches, and deads. Benching just doesn't take as much out of you.

    I DL ~400 and bench ~250

    main reason is I use dumbbells not barbell for bench. With a few months of prep I could probably hit 300 but I have no interest in feats of strength or looking like alphabrah in the weightroom.

    I don't keep track of the guy or anything. I just remember seeing one of his videos a while back that was much better than the one posted earlier. FWIW a meet bench can be way lower than even a good gym lift. You don't press until the judge says so, and that pause can take everything out of a lifter.

    deadlifting is such a raw power move, it uses pretty much every muscle you need to use in everyday life. deads build strength that actually has a purpose. A big dead lift is definitely more respectable than big bench. When do you ever run into situations where your pec strength does anything?

FWIW a meet bench can be way lower than even a good gym lift. You don't press until the judge says so, and that pause can take everything out of a lifter.

    I deadlift 500lbs for 2 reps but can barely get 225 on bench. I look like I have never stepped foot in a gym though..
