If you never cycle off creatine (take it year round) over time, your body will stop naturally making it? cuz thats freaking scary.

Is it true that...
Anyone can give up, its the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, thats true strength

Its fine to stay on it year round. Alot of people do, but alot of people cycle it as they believe that if they come off it for a while and then begin taking it mabye a month or so later, the new creatine will have a greater affect on them.
Its a personal choice. Do whatever you want. It won't harm you.

Because of the media. Its the common perception in the avg. Americans eyes that creatine is a "steroid" or this magic performance enhancer. Would you want most of america thinking you want kids taking "steroids" all year long? If they say cycle it then it gives some rest time where ppl can recover from the "steroid" so that the view on that company is lessened.
