My acromion curves too far downward and is basically irritating the hell out of my RC. Once the doc took an xray of my good shoulder and we compared, the difference was like night and day. Only good thing is it seems recovery is pretty short - he just goes in there and shaves some of the bone down so it doesn't keep rubbing and jabbing into my RC.

Even if that, sure beats the hell out of 6 months it was with the tear. As long as my labrum and RC are intact, I'm a happy camper.

Sorry to hear about another surgery. I had 5mm of my clavicle removed to reset my ac-joint...it sounds like you're doing a similar procedure. Like you said, it beats the hell out of a tear. Keep your head up man...we're all gonna make it through this stronger. When is your surgery scheduled for?

So after my cortisone shot my pain went away. Well not fully away but before i was having a throbbing pain, some time sharp pain 24/7. After the shot i was having pain only like 1/2 the time! Well i did my first weight rehab and it went great. Then i did band RC work and it started to hurt again No sharp pain any more but it throbs 24/7 again....I guess its a step forward still tho cause there is no sharp pain. Im still doing my weight rehab tho cause it doesnt hurt wehn i lift. Im going soooo slow tho, only incresing 5 lbs a week, and starting out for example DB benching 10 lbs!! Probably gonna go back to the doc in 1 week, well see tho. Even tho it sucks that the pain came back the fact that it isnt as bad as before is something to be happy about i guess?

Anyone's bone structure different after recovery on their operated shoulder? My shoulder area is kinda more propped up now on the operated arm. Just noticed this!

Yup definitely. It feels different and I can notice that my collarbone is slightly smaller compared to my non-surgical collarbone. I only notice this when I take off my shirt. No big deal, as long as I have muscle on and around my frame and I'm healthy/injury free I could care less.

I just dislocated my shoulder about 2 months ago. The doctor said i an abnormal ligament where the ligament got pushed down because of the dislocation. It took me about a month to get back into the gym but I can't do anything dealing with my shoulder. I'm suppose to be getting surgery in December for it. Anyone else have something of the sort? It just sucks cause I always have to worry about how I use it and I can't do any sports. Also, I lose a lot of my muslce gained from having to stay in a sling for a month.

Perfectly normal. Around 4 months the ache went away and felt better on a weekly basis. 3 months is light weight training aka starting strengthening. I was barely doing anything at 3 months.

You are on track man. I remember when I was 3 months out I was curious to where everyone else was when they were 3 months post op.

First off, it is very normal for your shoulder to hurt 3 months out. From about 4 months post op, I wouldn't really call the sensation pain, more like an ache. And yes, I still get the aches, although not as often .

This is a rough timetable for my recovery:
3 months post op I was in the weight room...but man was I lifting light. I'm talking like 20 lb DB press, 10 lb DB Military, pushups, and so on. I also noticed how much muscle and strength I have lost (don't be discouraged, it will come back fast!). I remember one workout in the first few weeks back in the gym I had to quit halfway through because of the pain. This is normal. Once you cross that line of pain, stop your workout and walk away. Give it 5 days or so and then get back in the weight room.

4-5 months in the weight room I noticed I progressed in stages. Some weeks I was able to up the weight, other weeks I was not able to. As I told Ryan before, I've felt like my muscles could lift more weight, but my shoulder could not handle the extra stress.

6 months you'll be lifting heavy again

Hopefully this sketch is somewhat helpful to you. Keep up the RC work. light weight high reps. GL man.

How's everyone else doing. Ryan almost time to meet with your orth, let us know what's going on with that.

Timeline looks pretty solid to me. Also, if you had more anchors and more stuff done it will affect recovery time so keep that in mind. Mine was quite quick as I strengthened my RC before going into surgery and only had one anchor. I can't stress enough about strengthening your RC up before surgery if possible because the stronger your shoulder is going into surgery, the quicker recovery will be.

I've still been able to lift and had to modify a few things but I'm still putting on mass and pain only bothers me if I do too much and don't ice.

This is lame, I just found out by football trainer that I might need surgery on both my shoulders. Because when I do like a big circle with my arms something pops and he said that's my shoulder popping in and out. This is going to suck, doing surgery probably after football season though.

BIg difference between football trainer and DR. Definately go see a specialist and see what he says. If you need surgery, you should be good to go by next season!! Welcome to the group..

Whoa....slow down Michael Bao. Just because your shoulder "pops" is by no means an automatic for surgery...that is just ridiculous. As Big Al said, go see an orthopedist.

Do you have pain in your shoulder? Limited range of motion? Are you limited in any movement? Ask yourself these questions.

I hope it's nothing too serious bro. I have friends who pop their shoulders in and out frequently, but by no means does it mean for them to go under the knife.

Describe the pain and it's exact location. Both my shoulders pop but only my left one has pain. You need to see a doctor to properly diagnose your shoulder problem. You may just have some sort of impingement.
