Hey guys,
for the first time ever during my last work out when doing DB laterals my traps were burning like a bastard. My form is usually pretty good and i always feel it in my shoulders.
any tips for taking traps out of the equation a little on the laterals?

100% true, combined with...
*almost* this.
rather than dbs to shoulder height, use the "pouring water" twist, and take elbows to shoulder height or 1" below--dbs should be very slightly lower when you're "pouring".
that will put the emphasis very, very squarely in your delts.my workout journal:
