If you throw an upper cut on a shoot that would be difficult if they shoot for the ankles but if they shoot for the hips maybe?

Well, as far as I know, Mike has no ground skills, so that makes him even with Kimbo even if it were MMA

What a coincedence, neither does Kimbo.

Wow, what a great thread. Comparing Kimbo, a street brawler turned MMA fighter who is still a beginner, to Mike Tyson, an experienced boxer....oh and this is definitely fair....comparing Tyson's BOXING to the boxing of someone who isn't a boxer.... Yup. Perfect way to compare the two.

    /sarcasm

But really, of course the boxer is gonna have better boxing. That being said, I know Kimbo doesn't have a ground game but he did a lot better on the ground in his last fight than I expected. I don't see why he'd stand with Tyson. He'd probably take it to the ground. Now that being said...I'm pretty sure the fight ain't happening since every time Tyson has been asked in interviews if he'll ever return to fighting, he says no.

It is a Fair Comparison...I do not get why you must act sarcastic...Kimbo thinks he is hot **** and even called out an old fat over the hill unaggressive tyson saying yup I would love to fight tyson...

Mike Tyson has better stand-up period. It's not even close. Kimbo's claim to fame is his stand-up. Seems like a fair comparison to me when everyone glosses over how Kimbo is the best. Mike Tyson would seriously send Kimbo to the hospital if they fought in each of their primes.

I predict a ground war with some good sweeps and some solid submission attemps Tyson by Gogoplatta.

Seriously hitting pads translates to fighting..... o wait it barely if at all does so nm.

Now if it was tapes of them sparring that would be diff.

I have never seen a tape of Kimbo sparring

Thompson's shots were ineffective because he was putting himself out of position and flying at Kimbo like an airplane. When shooting, you still have to maintain the integrity of your stance and change levels at the hips (by squatting down, essentially) and not at the waist (i.e. bending over).

Thompson just leaned forward and dove at Kimbo's legs. That's JV high school wrestling right there.

    True holyfield was olympic pedigree
But Actually Holyfield was brawling with Tyson and beat him in a war of attrition...he stood up to the bully like buster douglas and broke tysons will...I doubt kimbo would have the kinda heart he would of busted a bruce seldon on tyson.

Lennox Lewis was the Technician or the Pugilist Specialist as he calls himself he broke tyson down in one of the worst schoolings he was pure textbook and didnt even have a scratch.

The crazy thing is that Tyson's head and upper body movement in that video is slow compared to his younger days! Well, except the parts in that video where he is young. I recently watched the special program Tyson Raw and Uncut and its amazing how good he was when he did train properly.

Of course he's not a manlet. It's funny because people always show him next to humungus people and say he's tiny when he's pretty big guy overall. BTW Tyson was actually more like 230-235 walk around weight even in his prime. He cut 15 lbs to get into fight shape and fought around 215-220 in his younger days. If you train 8+ hours a day you will lose weight.

In his prime, Tyson redefined the term FAST AND FURIOUS!
He was by no means a great boxer like it was Ali, Foreman, or Sugar Ray Leonard, but by far the most effective one; heavy puncher, extremely fast puncher.

Dude that is the point of this ****ing thread. How unrealistic it is for Kimbo to fight tyson. That is why we are "compairing" their hand speed. Although technically we were all making fun of it. Kimbo is joke and would get tooled if Tyson even looked at him the wrong way. We all know this, but MMA groupies don't. So why don't you chill the **** out and spend more time outside instead of making 3,000+ posts in a section you know nothing about, k?

I haven't seen a legit source, but I've heard it several times. So I'm guessing it's a possibility.

Many noobs thinks kimbo is the baddest man...some idiots on another board were saying kimbo in his prime would murder tyson in his prime.

Thompson just leaned forward and dove at Kimbo's legs. That's JV high school wrestling right there.
The saddest part about Thompson's takedowns is that he got almost every single one of them. Nice TDD, Kimbo...
