If you want to live for something other than yourself, live for your children - that's the easy answer most people go with.

Back in the day, people lived for their King or Emperor or their race/tribe and the noble causes all served the will of the authority in place.

In a democracy, you get to choose what your noble cause is and we have plenty to choose from that have been developed over the course of history, whether it be religion, country, or beliefs like stoicism or Zen, etc.


The fact that you can't get everyone to get on board and go along with your noble cause people can exercise their free will, doesn't mean there are no noble causes anymore.

Its chosen by each individual and less brainwashed by authority and necessity. This means that most of the population will just go with the hedonistic, easy lifestyle but it doesn't have to be that way for those who are disciplined and for those who care.

A bachelors degree doesnt mean chit anymore. you need a masters degree or multiple industry relevant certifications to stand out now.
