Did you ever eat fast food growing up?

My mom cooked. We rarely went out for fast food. I can't remember exactly how often we had it but it was a rare treat, maybe once every couple months if that? I don't eat fast food now either. Never been much of a fan. Can't remember the last time I had it. We also didn't drink a lot of soda when I was young. I get a craving for it maybe a couple times a year. I've never been a big soda drinker and would rather have water the majority of the time.

did you not have any freedom of choice as teen? couldn't imagine myself as a teenager turning down trips with the bros to eat junk...even if i wasn't hungry just to hang

Hardly ever as a kid. Hardly ever now. In between, occasionally. Go to was Taco Bell.

One thing I am extremely thankful for is the fact that parents were not soda drinkers. Never drank it so I never developed a taste for it, and I just think it tastes like pure sugary chit (that's exactly what it is, I know)

Yep, I like it every once in a while but I can't drink a lot of it.

As an older teen yes. Still wasn't that big into fast food.

This is where you see a difference with 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen etc immigrants. Most of the rest of the world eats far less takeout/fast food than the US. 1st gen typically cook a lot of their own meals and then it gets less with 2nd, then worse still with 3rd.

I second this. My parents were born in Europe. Always had delicious home cooked meals while living with my parents into adulthood.

My grandparents never even thought of eating fast food. I remember my grandfather trying general tso's chicken from a Chinese restaurant one time and he hated it. Too sweet for him.
