The Wall Street Journal says Gavin Newsom’s War on Gasoline Is a Gift to Donald Trump

Details in the link but I can summarize Newsom's new scheme:
-CA refineries supply most of Arizona and Nevada's gasoline
-CA new tax would hike prices on said gasoline 54 cents quickly
-Refiners have been losing money the last 6 months
-Newsom wants to tax their gross revenue, not profits. He can't tax losses, so he'll tax gross revenue

For CA refineries to not go out of business prices per gallon will have to:
-go up more than a dollar by 2026
-higher afterward


So average CA gas prices can expect to be $6.50 gallon in 2026, $7 soon afterward. Newsom's plan raises gas prices a lot in Nevada and Arizona too. More tax collection on gas used by people in Arizona and Nevada.
