Way back in the day I bartended at a nice seafood place that was slow on Sunday nights, so they started a seafood broil with all you can eat crab legs to get more business for that shift. Big mistake. I think it lasted 2-3 months before they said fuk it and were ok with it going back to slow that night. Normal business was maybe 10-20% black people, but it was at least 75% black during that shift and jam packed. Such a nightmare to work for crap tips. Sweet tea had to be made nonstop and the incessant bitching had me in an evil mindset.

And yes, you'd have 3-4 people come in together, with 2 ordering the meal, giving their food to the other 1-2 people. Call it out and tell them you'll have to charge all of them, you're racist!! "I am never coming back here and I'm gonna tell everyone I know not to come here." Okay, see you again in exactly 2 weeks.

It's both. Red Lobster should've taken notice and stopped it very early on. When it's an all you can eat deal black people flock to it like bears to honey. Let's say a nice place has a brunch buffet on Sundays. During the week it's 10% black clientele. During that brunch buffet it's going to be 30-50% black even if it's moderately high priced, especially during the second half of the buffet. I could go into long details, but the truth is when it comes to restaurants black clientele suck ass. I could speak into my phone for an hour now and not get through it all.

The key thing for anybody taking care of them is to just accept it, pay attention to getting refills of their drinks 3x as much as you do others, stop by to ask if they need anything (besides refills) at least twice as much as others. More blue cheese/ranch? A 4th time? OK. Hell, if they're all on their 3rd refill leave a pitcher of sweat tea on their table even if it means getting chastised by management. Or bring them two glasses each instead of one. Do things like that and tips will be decent from black tables. In nicer restaurants at least. I can't say for places like Red Lobster or Applebee's, I wouldn't know.

I had cool black coworkers back in the day, and about half to two-thirds of the black clientele were ok, but practically all were more needy than everyone else. Again, just something to accept and try to anticipate ahead of time.

It may sound racist, but is it racist if literally everyone who's worked in restaurants has experienced the same thing and will tell you the same, including black servers/bartenders?
