Is it to try to get more women to watch it? You'd think they would watch men's if they wanted to watch at all.

I noticed this too, seems like a lot of commercials and promos across various sporting events advertising it...
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.

They must think that right now is the time to try to get people hooked.
Lulz. I can't believe those giant redwoods of hoors can't dunk.
Clark is the supposed "hot" one?
They're trying to trick us into watching women's basketball? Not on my watch.
They've had a long run of doing fck all, maybe it's make or break time.

There's a push for it every few years. In between pushes they spend the time bitching that the NBA should give them more money because they can't turn a profit and they want private charter flights and higher salaries.
They have an opportunity now with Caitlin Clark. And it's not because she's hot (she isn't). Her game is more exciting compared to her peers (basically female Steph Curry) and she was a huge draw in college. On top of that she is straight, white, religious, and makes an attempt to be feminine. Those characteristics will appeal to a wider audience than most of the other WNBA players (the league is 90% dykes).
Because of this I'm not sure how well the rest of the league is going to take to Clark. Sheryl Swoopes is already leading a smear campaign against her and is blatantly lying about her to do so. I'm not sure how much of that is due to Clark's demographic, or if it's just the same shiit we see from old NBA players who talk shiit about the younger guys because they feel insecure about them. Then you have the racial dynamic. You have a league that is mostly black players seeing shiit all over the media about how a white girl that hasn't even played a single game is going to be the savior of their league. Some resentment there is natural, even though they'd be smart to embrace her because if she actually does help boost their popularity it will benefit everyone in the league.
I think they'll see a temporary boon, but it won't last. It is still just a much lower quality product than the NBA and it doesn't have the college affiliation and atmosphere that bring eyes to women's march madness tournament. If women want it to succeed then women are going to have to watch and attend games. But even they would rather go to NBA games, or watch dumbass reality shows.See Krackerjacked's sig

This! They should let her score crazy so it draws in more fans which means more money for them but they're too selfish and ignorant to do that. I think fans just want to see her score and hit wild 3s since the crowd was in frenzied when she did. The wnba complained about low pay but now they finally have an opportunity to boost ratings with Clark . Watching the WNBA is hard when they can't make simple pass or layups. Women's college is more entertaining imo. Maybe Taylor Swift can help the WNBA out by going to games or something.

If you don't think that the higher ups in the WNBA already thought of this didn't think about this then you're wrong
They're going to start calling hella fouls like penalties to star quarterbacks to make it so that they play even softer....especially any physicality on her
In turn its not going to be physical at all just like the NBA and just be a shootout...ppl nowadays like shootouts instead of a physical game like back in the 80s-90s

I was like the misc. Thought it was jews pushing the narrative. Until I saw Sabrina Ionescu compete with Steph Curry in the 3pt contest and almost won. Then I caught a glimpse of a Caitlin Clark game and she hit back to back stepback 3s. Was pretty impressed how good they are srs. I deadass don't think half the NBA players rn can guard Caitlin srs.
