    It's been a big part of losing a significant amount of weight for me.

    I periodize it like I periodize lifting weights, but right now I do 60-90 minutes every day on the recumbent bike.

    Someone was talking about the calories burned on a bike like that being minimal... Okay? Let's say it's 250 kcal. per 60 minute session. Multiply that by 7 days per week, and that's an additional half pound of fat per week.

    After 15 weeks, that's 7.5 additional pounds of fat.

    Anyway that's just how I look at it.

    Being consistent with the calorie deficit is more important, but the cardio helps.

    They dont really need to though. as long as they are active they are burning sht. Cardio is boring and hard on your joints if youre heavier. Diet and weights is fine to start

    That doesn't change anything about cals in vs cals out.

    It just means your body becomes much more efficient at using oxygen as you get fitter and you burn fewer calories as a result of exercise.

    So there are definitely diminishing returns there.

    That's why I find it helpful to periodize cardio with more relaxed periods and periods where I pile it on.

    My heavy friend always lifted with me first and did like 10 min of cardio before he burned out quickly.
