Not so sure about that. Depends how it "ceased to exist". I suppose if it just blinked out of existence then maybe that's true. But if it started erupting there might be a delay feeling the effects. I mean we're close to the sun but not that close. You wouldn't have very long, maybe seconds at best, but if you were paying attention to it you might see it coming and have some minimal time to process it.

I just Goolged and if it full on exploded we'd have 8 minutes and 20 seconds. So more time than I was giving us credit for, but yeah we would too know it's coming hate to burst your bubble.
