Bunch of kids. Adult who owns a home wants kids off his yards and tries to scare them off with a gun or knife(but not actually use it). I'd give him a week in jail and that be that.
The courts need to look at the context as whole and punish fittingly. 2 - 5 years is overreaction and its not a good look for the judge or body that hands out punishment.🤴Supreme Self Esteem Crew

Oh ok so we just assume an enraged person armed with a knife chasing kids was not using to use it? Lets wait until he stabs someone to really throw the book at him right?
What he did was extremely serious and he should be jailed for multiple years. You cant have lunatics chasing kids with knives for nothing, and its insane to suggest he should get a slap on the wrist. That would actually not be a good look for the justice system. You should assume he was going to use it, and punish him accordingly.

He didn't say he thinks the guy should go to prison that long, he was just stating the potential punishment base on the law, strong reading skills. He can take a plea deal, he might catch a break, or the judge can decide he is a danger (threatening kids with a knife is kind of frowned upon) and he gets the max sentence. Also depends on if it's a jury trial or not, that is also a factor.
