The only thing better then having a wife that's a professional chef. Is when her siblings are also professional chefs.
Brb bomb ass at home meals. Catered to by professionals. Plus they are Asian and believe in catering to guests/men. So I pretty much just go sit at the table and they bring everything to me just like waiters in a restaurant. Lmao.

My wife is Cuban, but she's very traditional. I remember we went to her mother's house for Thanksgiving, and my wife did most of the cooking. When it came time to eat she made me a plate first before everyone else. Her aunts got mad at that and said their father (my wife's grandfather) should be given his food first. My wife just told them she cooked, so her husband eats first. A few people did not like that.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Agreed if your trying to cook fast food type meals at home like burgers, fries, tacos, chicken tenders, etc. These are hard to perfect at home as well so don't taste as good.
But for real meals? Those start at $20+ per entree outside so it's worth it to cook yourself. Not only the price but I find I can just google a recipe and get it almost as good as most restaurants, if not better

05-03-2024, 05:32 PM #67The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

I haven't had fast food/takeout in years. I buy meat from an independent butcher that can trace it back to specific farms and my wife or I cook.
It's not about price or convenience, it's about making it the way I want, knowing what I am eating and more importantly knowing what I am feeding my kid.Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!
The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.
They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

yeah. never understood it either. if people simply consider their time (literally the only thing they actually own that has concrete value) then they would be much more thoughtful about choosing whether or not to cook. It depends of course, if you are feeding many people your marginal costs decrease so it makes sense...but for a singleton? nah.

This thread is the final push to get me to buy a portable induction stovetop so i can cook burgers on my balcony. i'm getting sick of my apartment smelling like vaporized tallow, but i'd rather cook higher quality ground beef at home vs getting a burger for $12 that doesnt' even have 1/3 lb of ground beef in it
