It was usually just Sony fanboys constantly trying to start chit with Xbox fans and invading their space, I think it just got so bad that Xbox fans started fighting back, now it's just a constant thing between the two, but that said Sony fans are still the ones usually trying to win their little e-fights constantly, it's like they always have some lame reason to slam and hate anything Xbox related. PS5 is the redditor's choice after all, the console of proud e-warriors.
Nintendo manages to stay out of their crosshairs, probably because a lot of redditors like the Switch as well.

I half get it. People spend money on the console and its ecosystem so they defend the product and attack it's rival to psychologically justify their purchase decision.
On the other hand people should be smart enough to see that these are all three large corporations that don't care about the consumer beyond the revenue they can squeeze from them. Further, it benefits all gamers if all 3 systems do well, because competition forces them to be better.
We should strive to adopt an attitude of hoping they all succeed, and recognize that they all have strengths and weaknesses.
I went from NES to N64 to GameCube to Wii to X360 to PS4 to XSX. Strong background in Nintendo as they were the leader in the industry when I started gaming in the 90s. I had 2 Wiis get disc drive read failures so I just went without a modern console for a couple years. Decided to switch to 360 because I wanted a modern sports game without schit cartoon graphics (was on NCAA football 05 for a while, didn't mind those graphics but wanted updated game play, but the newest Wii title in the series had weird graphics). Anyway my 360 came with MW2 and this was my first online multi-player FPS and it was awesome.
Switched to PS4 when that came out as it looked like it would be better for that gen, plus it was $100 cheaper and I was never going to use the kinect or whatever it was called that was bloating the XB1 price.
Made the switch to XSX for current gen probably a little hastily, but in retrospect it was a good decision because it reconnected me with some old friends who I wouldn't be talking to today otherwise. Plus Gamepass has been nice.
Overall impressions 360 seemed somewhat unreliable. Obviously had the RROD, and mine had disc read failure part of the time so I traded it into Gamestop when they were running a bonus credit special, and luckily it read a disc when I took it in and they tested it lol. 360 controllers were also pretty unreliable. Left stick malfunctioned in every controller I owned on there. Part of that was the games I was playing. COD 4 and WaW didn't have continuous sprint so I was mashing the left stick click to try and get sprint back as quickly as possible. Didn't matter if they were official or third party it happened to all of them.
PS4 still works to this day, and I played it VERY heavily for 8 years. It was very loud during certain games though. Their controllers were much more reliable than Xbox in my experience. I bought a second one on release as a backup. The first one had the rubberized part on the left thumbstick start peeling after 3 years. I dealt with that. Started having another issue after an additional year can't remember what it was. Switched to my backup and it got issues within like a month. Something with the right trigger, I was playing GTA and The Crew and it wasn't registering me pressing all the way down so I was never going full speed. Still got $30 each for store credit trading them into Gamestop though. I got 2 new controllers, and both are still working to this day.
Xbox SX is probably the most durable and reliable as a console (although I've only had it what 3 years now?). Controllers have been pretty bad though. Xbox replaced my original SX controller twice so I've had 3 official controllers total. 2 got drift, 1 had the RB malfunction. Tried a bunch of different third party ones; 8bitdo were nice, I really liked the first one I got so I got a second one as a backup. After 5 months the first one got drift so I switched to the second one. Within like 2 days the X button started malfunctioning; I'd be arming an objective in Rush in Battlefield, and midway through it would stop registering me pressing it. So I stopped getting that brand. Power A's are a cheapo brand but I got those for a while, those all got drift. Turtle Beach one was nice but got drift. I'm using a Gamesir G7 SE now. It supposedly has "Hall Effect" sticks that prevent drift. I got it at the start of September 2023 and no issues yet so fingers crossed. Won't buy backup controllers until I actually need them though any more lol.
Kind of got off on a tangent, but back to the main theme, both PS and Xbox have their pros and cons. We as gamers should want both to succeed because the more options out there the better.
And on the main thread title, most Nintendo players are likely casual players. They don't get online and seek out console war arguments. A lot of them are kids yes, but a lot of them are also adults that grew up on Nintendo and still find the games fun, and they just pop a game on and start playing without worrying about reviews or online debates.See Krackerjacked's sig

Nintendo has this crazy formula where all of their games feel a bit different in the way you interact with the game world through your controller
xbox and ps5 kind of just have the same chit over and over. Racer, shooter, rpg, fighter"we cannot be more sensitive to pleasure without being more sensitive to pain"
