Or when you are down and just wanna cheer up thru the powers of CHRISTMAS?
For me, used to be Home Alone 2(Duncan's Toy Chest makes me smile), but I guess Elf has beaten it because Elf is more comical and silly, plus Santa is actually there(as well as a fake one).

I don't really have a go-to flic per se, but I'd pick Home Alone, Christmas Vacation (with Chase), and maybe Gremlins.

D om squad since way back easy
My mom, she smokes a lot of cigarettes and she went to put one out
And just put it out on the cat… and then the cat just went up in flames and crawled into the Christmas tree. Since that is made out of newspaper shreds spray painted green
The tree went up and then the house just burned down after that
Straight to the ground
“Did you get a new cat?”
Wasn’t even our cat, we did have to get a new Christmas tree tho
“If you could spend Christmas with anyone who would it be?”
My real dad…

I never really got why everyone loves Elf. I am admittedly not the biggest fan of Will Ferrell movies, but this is one I just really could not get into.
Home Alone and Home Alone 2 GOAT. Honestly think the hardest I've ever laughed at a movie is when Marv screams. (Also, Daniel Stern was only 33 years old when Home Alone was released. Brutal.)

Man, it’s way too hard to pick one because I love Christmas movies and specials.
Overall I’d say it’s probably the original Home Alone due to the combination of humor, “action”, and life lesson. As a kid it was everything you could want in a movie minus boobs.
But there’s a lot more to just festivity when talking about Christmas movies so I’d go
Feeling festive and nostalgic - Home Alone 1&2, A Christmas Story, and Elf
Festive and relating to thr craziness from an adult perspective - Christmas Vacation
Festive and reflective on life in general(which I tend to be more so during the winter) - A Christmas Carol….top one probably being the Disney animation with Jim Carey as Scrooge, but also enjoy many others, and even really liked the darker version that FX released a few years ago
Lots of other great ones, but the list above are the only ones in the elite category.+positive crew+
-we all gonna make it, but what it is is up to you crew
-all things in moderation, even political views crew
-support local farms crew
-try to do at least one good deed/day crew
-less cursing the darkness and more lighting candles crew

A Miracle Happens Here – ER: S 2, EP 10 (1995)
Homeless for the Holidays – ER: S 3, EP 10 (1996)

The Miracle Worker – ER: S 5, EP 10 (1998)
How the Finch Stole Christmas – ER: S 6, EP 9 (1999)
The Greatest of Gifts – ER: S 7, EP 9 (2000)
Piece of Mind – ER: S 7, EP 10 (2000)
I’ll Be Home for Christmas – ER: S 8, EP 10 (2001)

All good movies posted ITT. But for me personally, it's Christmas Vacation. As a family, we watch it every Thanksgiving night to officially kick off Christmas time. We've done it that way for decades now. A little late for a "kick-off", but every Christmas Eve we watch Magoo's Christmas Carol. We've watched that every Christmas Eve for as long as I can remember, back on VHS. Outside of those two, I'd say Home Alone and Jingle All the Way hit the hardest for me. Tons of other really good ones too. Hell, I used to make fun of it, but putting on the Hallmark Channel for the same four actors using the same script on 47 different movies, even just for background noise works as well.
