some drummers have a click track in their in ears live. what are you thoughts on this, vs the traditional route of drummers not doing this?

What's a click track? I saw a drummer who's audio (I'm assuming click track) went out and the drum tech was slapping him on his back to help him.
You are the only problem you will ever have and YOU are the only solution.

Makes sense, PA gear has gotten so good these days a lot of bands are playing with silent stages. Everything plugged directly into a sound system, no floor monitors, and building a custom mix in their in-ears, might as well put in a click track. Seems to be the standard for church bands and a lot of progressive stuff like Polyphia. I've seen them live once, again coming up in October, and they just released a concert on youtube. Probably the best mix I've heard in person and the youtube concert is pretty close to that quality.

What I don't like is gone are the days of guitarists playing through 8 12-inch speakers. It's no longer needed, costly to carry around or rent in each city, but damn it looks cool. when I saw Obituary open for Black Label Society their guitarist was using a 4x12 with a JCM 800 with a Proco Rat pedal, damn thing shook my soul outta my chest.Last edited by lmnopotts; 08-04-2023 at 12:50 PM.
