Meh, not cope. I'm living in San Diego and it's a little cooler here sans that nasty humidity in the summer. On the plus side we have the option of going to snow if we want to.

I believe it is mainly due to military influence, but by coastal California standards, San Diego is Texas / Florida level conservative.

If I wanted to live on the Lower 48 West Coast, then San Diego would be my #1 choice. But if I'm gonna live in a predominantly Liberal state close to the water, then I'm choosing Hawaii.

Yeah, but you're trapped on an island...what if you want to do something or go somewhere on the mainland? You have to go through the rigamarole of chartering a flight even if it's something that would otherwise be considered just a day trip.

Don't gotta imagine son, I live in PA where we have 4 different seasons in 1 day. It's great up here. I love waking up to ice on my car, then going out at at lunch sweating to death because the temp raised 50 degrees, then its snowing at dinner time.

I've been looking on Maui, preferably Kihei. So only a 4 hour flight to the west coast, and there are lots of flights every day.

Being isolated on an island doesn't bother me much, I live in Alaska (as well as lived on Kodiak Island from 2008-2017). So we are basically an island anyhow.
