Just got this monitor ... Cottdamn, what an upgrade over my previous one.
It's a mini led so it looks pretty damn amazing to my eyes, the colors, everything pops out so much and the black levels are pretty damn great. There's still some crushed blacks/blooming at times, but not enough to distract me personally. It's not an OLED obviously, but it's a damned good monitor in terms of achieving an oled like feel while I hunchback over my desktop lol.
One of the nicest and most pleasant surprises I've had was the jump from 60hz from my previous monitor to 165hz on this monitor .... Scrolling through websites and stuff is an absolute dream and it feels so damn smooth and it's finally nice to play games at higher framerates than being locked to 60. I havnt noticed too much of a difference yet between 60-90fps, but with the way I crank up my games it's a bit hard to get high framerates anyway lol.
Really glad I made the thread on on here asking about monitors and I think it was Elvis Costello who awared me of this monitor because I was looking at a "mid range" monitor apparently lol.

Hell yeahhhhh
I looked at some of the Samsung but ended up going with the Asus ROG 1440p 240hz for fps gaming. 27 inch no curve.

I'd like a 4k for the desktop real estate thoughSometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

Lol hope you enjoy and I didn’t cost you money unnecessarily by pointing this one out. Only aware of it because I’m in the same kind of situation but haven’t pulled the trigger on anything yet. This one is highly regarded across the board though. How you feeling about the curve while gaming?

Ideally I'd prefer that too, a 42 or even a 48 oled tv as a monitor, but unfortunately dont have desk space for that.
Just slightly above budget, but it's all good ... I got 5 years out of my previous monitor, so I expect to run this for about the same so it's a worthwhile investment.
Yeah no harm in waiting, especially as tech improves. The HDR on this monitor blew my older HDR monitor out of the water lol, and that's a monitor from 2017, so waiting for tech to improve/mature is always the smarter option if you can wait.
Curve is pretty great for gaming though, definitely digging it ... For stuff outside of work, it's a little bit jarring, but I'm getting used to it.
nahhhh, just one. Dont have space to go full space station mode lol.
I cant go below 32" for a monitor lol, it hits the sweet spot for me in terms of space. I'll even sacrifice hz as long as it's 4k with hdr lool. One day though I'll look into a multi-monitor/widescreen situation ... I'm still not fully sold on widescreen monitor's for gaming or even working .... But funny thing is that this current monitor emulates that wide screen mode, but it looks retarded on a regular 16"9 aspect ratio.
But good thing tech is improving so that we dont have to make compromises that much anymore though.Last edited by bongowongo; 01-25-2023 at 06:49 PM.
